Ross Barkley

Didnt hear that, but would be astonished if he didnt sign.

Unless he has a daft arse agent, which I dont think he has. Might be wrong mind.

the best place for Ross Barkley is Everton Football Club. The kid needs to find a pen sharpish and sign the thing because it will be a massive mistake on his behalf if he decides to leave. He's under a manager who will take him to where he wants to be.

I definitely think he'll be off to Spurs, criminal how we have let his contract run down to 1 year Kenwright is an absolute shyster. Thank God we have a competent owner in Moshiri now (hopefully)

If Ross does leave though he'll be a bigger traitor than Rooney in my eyes, I could understand Wayne leaving to Utd as we were going nowhere at the time at the bottom of the table. Now we have money to spend, a new stadium in the pipe line and European football likely next season, if he doesn't want that on top of a pay rise leaving us to have to sell him on the cheap taking a financial knock he can do one.

Was excellent once again today overall...unless you pick the bones and find some little irrelevant mispass or similar.

Sounds like Everton have offered him the contract and just seems that maybe he isn't happy with the terms.

How much do you think he needs to be offered to sign?

He would be very naive to leave the club right now.

When Rooney left in 2004, we had just finished 17th in the league, Radzinski had binned us off for Fulham, there was a boardroom war between Paul Gregg and Kenwright. I remember when we beat Palace away in August 2004, it was being billed as a relegation 6 pointer. Everton were a team that was going nowhere fast (or thats how it seemed to most people when Rooney left). In the end Rooney left for what was as the time, a very large sum of money.

Contrast that with Barkley's situation. We are a team knocking on the door of the top 4, with a group of young players who are improving every match. The club have shown ambition by sacking Martinez and tempting Koeman in from Southampton. Now we have decent backing from Moshiri, we are at least in a position to compete. The Everton of old would not have been in a position to sign Schneiderlin in January. Something has changed. I am confident that if he stays with the club, other good players will join in the summer and we will continue our upwards trajectory.

And he would be leaving for what? Spurs?

Good luck to them playing at Wembley next season, their record there so far has been beyond shocking. He won't be "one of there own", he will be arriving for a hefty price tag and the moment he does anything wrong the fans will turn. Spurs aren't very loyal to their players who go through bad spells and they tend to get binned off. That would be my worry for Barkley, speak to Piennar. By contrast, Rooney joined Fergie, a manager who was very good at putting his trust in young players.

Rooney moving to Utd in 2004, painful, really painful but understandable.

Barley moving to Spurs in 2017 makes absolutely no sense. He will never be loved like Harry Kane or Deli Ali and you wouldn't even say Spurs are nailed on for top 4 next season like Utd were in 2004. They are still vulnerable to losing Ali and Kane in the summer.

I think it's more likely Rooney is nailed on and he will not be happy with being second fiddle to him. And rightly so.

The club hasn't let his contract run down, they've offered him a new one and from all accounts a very good one, and he's not yet signed or agreed to sign it... As Koeman said right at the end of his press conference (tune into the Radio Merseyside footie show tomorrow evening to hear it), the club have offered the contract, it is up to the player to sign it... or be sold.

Nothing overtly to be abusive towards Bill Kenwright about over this.

Lord knows we all want Ross to sign, stay and help propel the club to new glories, but the ball appears to be firmly in his court.
