Ross Barkley

4 in the league so he is now level with our right back. I want him to do well but he has not developed like I hoped. When he initially broke through I thought he would develop into the level of player Kevin de Bruyne is now but he is not close.

you mean De Bruyne who this season has scored 4 league goals the same as Ross has?

As for De Bruyne pretty much looks most times like a flat track bully, distinctly unimpressed nearly every game I've seen him against us - including for wolfsburg. One of the most overhyped players in the league alongside ozil and coutinho.

Also mate, Barkley just turned 23 about a month ago, De Bruyne will be 26 before next season starts. Hardly comparing like for like, at the age Ross is now, De Bruyne had just been flogged to Germany having been deemed an utter bust at chelsea.

Depends how you selectively use stats mate. You might also be aware that he has scored more goals than all our midfield players put together this season. Depending on how you define midfield of course...

He has the same goals scored as KDB. Also has the same assists as Ozil and Coutinho.

But then Stanislas has as many assists and James McArthur has more goals. Maybe we should sign them?

Stats are great but rarely tell the whole story. If you can't see Ross's improvement these last few months then... Well I doubt you'll even be able to read this as you must have no eyes.

The fact that he's ahead of Ozil on assists, and not far behind on chances created, is amazing, especially given that he's afforded much less freedom than Ozil is for Arsenal.

Barkley's actually playing much more of an important role defensively than people give him credit for. Sorry to keep throwing stats out (I'm an analyst at google so I can't help it), but this comparison of him this season and last season shows how much he's come on defensively. He's winning more tackles and more balls in the air, as well as creating more chances. All really promising stuff.

Where do you work mate

He bummed our heads in first half and City would have been 3-1 up at half time if his teammates had done their part

Bit of a weird thing to say really, De Bruyne is sheer class, absolutely awesome

Not really wierd mate, he is hyped up as an amazing player, and whenever i have seen him against us in particular - he hasn't exactly dominated the games, more often he has been anonymous in them, very good player - fair enough he is, one who is overated also - IMO definitely he is, exatly the same way Ozil is overated due to racking up very impressive stats against some teams - but in the really big games i think both have a tendancy to go missing.

Thats neither here or there though, was responding to someone who is criticising barkely for not devloping the way De Bruyne has - despite the fact that De Bruyne is 26 in June and Ross has just turned 23, an absurd comparision

De Bruyine is class mate. Barkley needs to learn how to do some of the stuff he does, as he has all the potential to be just as good if not better.

Agree on the 'flat-track bully' aspect at times, but some of the stuff De Bruyne does is outrageous pal.

For me, the key aspect Barkley should take from a player like that is how De Bruyne nearly always picks the right pass. It's why he creates so many chances.

That being said, Ross has markedly improved in the last two months and is genuinely the heartbeat of our side right now.

Personally I thought De Bruyne was by far City's best player in both games against us, some of the passes he picks out defy belief, it's like he has eyes in the back of his head. Tell you what, if Barkley does reach his level then we can get excited.

You're right with the last paragraph. Comparing Barkley to him at the moment is completely unfair, one is in his prime and cost £56m and the other is a good few years off his peak yet. Coutinho is a more fair comparison I think.

Basically if you don't like Russ, this is you
