Ross Barkley

..to be fair, I did post a clip of Bobby Charlton and said Barkley reminds me lots of him. That's some accolade. I certainly don't dismiss him outright. There are not many better sights than Ross Barkley running with a football and it's that running style that reminds me lots of Charlton. I'm sure some of the older folk know what I'm talking about.

However, I do find him a frustrating footballer at times. I'd be genuinely chuffed if we can get to the next level with Barkley in the team but I have to be honest and say I'm not certain he will be.
Fair riposte. Can't argue too much with that

I think maybe Bryan Robson from same club

..I don't think he's got the same tenacity as a Bryan Robson, he really was a more combative type in my opinion. Charlton had a great running style with a football at his feet much like Barkley. Charlton also had a cannonball shot on him, a great shooting style Barkley can emulate.

My memory of Charlton is that he seemed to float (at speed!) over the pitch.

He's obviously grooming his hair ready for the comb over, it's all fitting into place now.

...he did, Matey. Really good footballers move so well with a football at their feet. As you say, Charlton glided effortlessly then unleashed that brilliant shot of his. Barkley has a fine running style with the ball as well.

Ross is effing great. In terms of key passes per game, in the whole league he's only behind Payet, De Bruyne, Erikesn, Ozil, and Sanchez. Higher than Silva, Coutinho, Hazard, Sigurdsson, Pogba, Tadic, Mane, Mkhitaryan, Zlatan, Fabregas, Mata, Sterling, Alli, Mahrez, Lallana, you name it. And now he's tracking back, throwing in tackles and being arrogant.

You can talk about him 'needing' to do this, 'needing' to cut out that...and of course he can improve, enormously, the sky's the limit for the kid. But it's not like he's crap otherwise, which seems to be the implication from some. He's boss.
I agree with this 100%. My view on his development is that the lad has had sod all in terms of coaching from Martinez, he's basically had a couple of wasted seasons where he could have been developing his whole game. He's catching up now under Koeman, give him a season or two and he's going to be a top, top player for us. Oh and keep playing Davies with him as well!

I don't hate the lad but I see this season as make or break given his age. He is occupying a very important role on the pitch and for me the end product is not good enough if we have any plans of getting ourselves amongst the Sky 6 on a regular basis. Coleman being our second top scorer with 4 goals speaks volumes. Let's see what he does for the rest of the season. If the consistency does not come we should cash in and replace with a productive number AM
It would speak volumes if it was true. Barkley is second top scorer with 5.
You really don't like Ross, do you.

4 in the league so he is now level with our right back. I want him to do well but he has not developed like I hoped. When he initially broke through I thought he would develop into the level of player Kevin de Bruyne is now but he is not close.
