Was just about to say this, Martinez was all about praising him every week, regardless of how he played, and (probably) thought he didn't need too much coaching, Koeman has got him fit and fighting for his place.

I hope Allardyce enjoys watching how good he was today when watching MOTD tonight with his pint of wine and gravy chaser.

Never saw that. Everyone in front of me jumped up and by the time I did the ball was in the net. So in fairness we all knew he was going to score as well

The problem is Martinez just didn't do any coaching, so he was great at giving young players confidence and freedom. However that only gets you so far then you stall. Barkley and Stones didn't get any proper coaching in my opinion. Barkley's finally getting some coaching and is clearly being shown what he needs to do to improve. That plus Koeman's found a formation that suits the players and the result is he's improving as a player. Great game today and boss celebration for the goal!
