Ross Barkley

Said it earlier in the thread, he'd shine in a team with more movement. I think Davis adds more of that than Barry and it allows him to make quick passes and move into space opened up by his team mates.

Got to keep it up now

Agree with this mate, I hope we can add some quality and then judge Ross. I know a lot of Villa lads who really didn't rate Idrissa Gueye, but they all reckon his improvement is down to playing in a better team, I take the same view of Barkley and hope Koemann and the boo boys get off his back.

Played well today.

It's a shame that Gana has to go. I'd like to see today's midfield three line up against one of the better sides. Would be interesting to see how they'd get on.

Very true this mate. Whole pace of the passing was increased. Davies positioning too for the game suited ross more

Very poor in the middle, but improved massively when played out wide. Maybe something to try? Has more time on the ball there.

"very poor" dear me what are you talking about? he was our best creative player by a mile

Calm down dear! Didn't say he was poor all game or that he wasn't our most creative player, said he was very poor while he was playing in the middle, and improved 100% when he moved out wide. Hardly controversial!

There were two Ross' out there today. Thought he was quite poor when playing behind Rom. Only when he moved further back it allowed him to start splitting them open and dictating the play. It's been said so many times by people but he needs to play further back. He can literally be a world beater from that position.

Didn't he play the whole game in the middle once Calvert went off??

He was quite bad in the first half mate. Found it quite difficult to get in to the game and had a fair few misplaced passes. The change of position and addition of an extra striker helped him enormously.

Agree. In fairness to him, everybody was shocking in the first half, and the start of the second half wasn't much better, but he doesn't seem to have the quickness of mind to play behind the striker, but when played deeper/wider, he has more time to pick out a pass.
