Ross Barkley

I think our idea of what Ross should be and what he actually is are two different things.

Problem is, I'm not sure myself.
I really think this is it. He's not really a 10. He's not really an 8, or even a 6. But he is a talent. He just needs to find out what his role on the pitch should be.

He needs to sort out in his head where he needs to be at any given time, and that should come from the Manager and coaching staff.

When we are on the ball we need him central in the final third of the pitch behind the main striker. That is his best and most dangerous attacking position.

When we are not in possession, he needs to be on the halfway line, central, to shore up a midfield that needs to take staion and set up in such a way that the opposition do not progress directly through the centre of the pitch. When possession is re-gained, from that central position, he should be motoring forward to support the impending attack.

The lad is young enough to do the above, and have the brains to do so. Today, in the first half, I saw an opponent about 3-4 yards away from him, and he made no effort to bust a gut to get a tackle in, or get goal-side to make that opponent's advancement more difficult. Not working for the good of the team is unforgiveable.

He's a box to box midfielder. That seems to be an old fashioned concept but that's what he needs to used as. He needs to get fitter and be used in this role where he can surge forward from deep.

Our 'support', holding us back again.

Didn't our 'support' have massive banners, just for ROSS, just a few weeks ago, yes?

Almost sure they deffo did.

How much cuddlin' does he need? I like him, talent's all there...but if the kid has a strop every time he gets a bit of ripping then there's an issue.

Never going to make it? He's made it mate. His quality is known. You cant unsee what the lad is capable of and wonder if he has the skill to light up a game when we all know through experience that he can and he has.

This is down to teasing out the performances on a regular basis with advice and by playing him in a position/system where he can excel.

Over to the manager.

If you think that he is capable at playing as a CM in the Barry role then you're deluded. He misses so much quality to play there. He cant defend, cant put pressure at the right time etc etc etc.

You should bring that to the attention of Koeman then, because he's stated he can play back there.

He needs to leave us, for his career's sake. The pressure and the stupid expectation from proper bulbs fans, are a a joke.

These same fans probably love Mo Besic, for doing nothing at all pf football note.

Only player to put a tackle in for us (besic) when things were going wrong. Some of our best results were when he played sporadically tbh. Looked far better defensively because of him.imo.

Ross needs to step up. The fan base is split between those who are too soft and those who are too hard on him imo. But that doesn't matter, it's been ages since a whole performance from him has been ace. Nea.
