Ross Barkley

See this is exactly what I was talking about. Looking purely at numbers doesn't tell us anything about his performances. You can't possibly say he's put in 4 good performances if you've watched us, I felt embarrassed for him at West Brom and he was awful against Stoke as well.

Don't think he was awful, but he certainly didn't have a good first half... and with Big Sam in the Main stand, that 45 minutes kyboshed his England chances for a wee while.

Leave him out the team on Saturday, get him back in against Norwich in the cup. He loves playing against them and could possibly be skipper again with players rested.

I'm sure he'll be fine, our manager demands excellence now so there will be a few players that get the hook when having a mare.

Glad Koeman again was decisive and looked at the bigger picture, the club and result - over the individual.

That sub also sends a strong message out to the entire squad. As it will encourage the lads on the sidelines and keep the first team on their toes.

Ross might lick his wounds a bit after it, but I think the overall impact will be positive.

Baines mentioned in his post match last night how strong the dressing room is at the minute. Good signs all round.

That was a good shout by him getting that quote in, especially with he himself saying there was 'no chemistry' in the Martínez squad last year.

Seems Koeman has turned that aspect round in a relatively short space of time.

Great teams are built on good team spirit and you can see the boys are all playing for each other at the minute, long may it continue

He slows down our attacks, he's not positive enough, there was one play yesterday he was on the edge of their box and took the easy way out and passed it back, two passes later it was back to Stek, that's the Martinez ways still in him and still in the team.

Gerry came on and started getting the ball and running at them, it changed the game, ok a few stuff Gerry tried did not come off, but he increased the speed at which we were breaking on them x3 from the first half, his run out of our half was the first phase of the first goal we scored.

I just wish Barkley did more of that, because he's fantastic running with the ball and really puts teams in trouble when he does so, he needs to cut out the back passes as and easy option in the final third too.

I think he needs to sit with the coaching team and just play easy football with passing and mobility, watching Gana will help him although he obviously isn't as mobile. The rest will come but I'd be saying back to basics Ross, dont hold onto the ball too long, make runs, make good passing choices and dribble in the right areas. I think RK did exactly the right thing, he was very poor last night.
