Ross Barkley

Any time I read this thread it's like I'm watching a different player to most people.

I like the lad but wow, he's overrated on here.

We're talking about him being included in a 23 man England Squad, not winning the Ballon D'Or.

Any other player who'd started the season as he had done would be in the squad.

The utter BS about him being uncoachable is a ridiculous slur. He's a very talented professional footballer who has had the misfortune of being managed by 2 footballing dinosaurs in Hodgson and Allardyce.

“We have a sorry history of marginalising flair players. It’s been going on for decades. Alan Hudson, Rodney Marsh, Worthy (Frank Worthington), Stan Bowles, Matt Le Tissier, to name a few – not one of them made it to double figures in England appearances. That’s a scandal." - Fat Sam

Then proceeds to not pick barkley for the squad and doesn't even start Ali who is the only other flair player

How Matt Le tissier didn't get over 50 caps is an absolute mystery to me... He was so skill full and consistent that it ruined my child hood... I grew up on the south coast surrounded by saints fans... Luckily saints where still worse than us at the time he was playing

I agree. I like Ross, he can put in a shift and change games for us. Sadly, he only does it 30% of the games he plays in, and thats not good enough for me. Id love for us to bring in real competition for him, he might step up his game.
Koeman could be the guy to change that, and we might start to see the player everyone is raving about. Atm, he's not.

I don't think his cause has been helped by the fact his main managers to date have been Neil Warnock, Roberto Martinez and Roy Hodgson.

That said, he's as good, if not better, than any other English midfielder presently and his omission from the England squad is laughable. If he was a Sky 6 (or however many it is now to include the redsh1te) player, he'd be the first name on the England team sheet, never mind not getting into the squad.

Hopefully, Koeman might instill a bit of confidence, consistency and arrogance into him.

Anyone who doesn't think he should be picked for England should watch England more.

Nobody in the centre of the pitch who can break lines, something even Ross' biggest critics must acknowledge he does.

Sunday Supplement. There's a reason why I don't watch this programme.

However, I just stumbled across this belter, presumably from today's programme.

'Adam Lallana is better than Ross Barkley'.

Even by that show's ridiculously low standards, that is unbelievable.

Also, 'Ross Barkley hadn't done enough to warrant inclusion in the Euro squad'. Yeah, but Jack Wishere clearly had.
Don't watch it any more mate as they never have anything to say about us unless it's why this player or that player would be better off elsewhere.

Just watched the clip.

Patrick Barclay is a tit so wouldn't take any notice of him anyway. Lallana number 10 lol

Thought the other two spoke sense to be honest. Andy Dunn ( a renowned RS I believe) was only saying that Allardyce will have a system that he doesn't think that a maverick like Ross would fit into. And he's right. The other guy, who I don't know, merely said that Ross (and Stones) shouldn't have been in the euros squad because they had been destroyed by Martinez. Something I think most of us agreed with.

Keep Ross away from Allardyce as far as I'm concerned.

Ross has always struggled for consistency. However, watching the England game today you would favour him over Rooney in the position he is playing.
