I agree about the other attributes tho, i think a noticeable improvement in his game recently has been how he collects the ball in midfield and keeps the attacks ticking over. Love him or hate him you cant argue that he is always heavily involved in the game and never hides from the ball....which is part of what leads to him giving it away so much!

Very true. But that's why he's the English version of said players, won't get to their level in certain aspects, but could be better in others like strength, speed, goals etc.

However, I just stumbled across this belter, presumably from today's programme.

Even by that show's ridiculously low standards, that is unbelievable.

Also, 'Ross Barkley hadn't done enough to warrant inclusion in the Euro squad'. Yeah, but Jack Wishere clearly had.

Heard about this before but not seen it.

Typical Patrick Barclay, a load of arse.
 
He's a midfielder that's scored twice in the opening 4 games, including a free kick against Spurs.

If he played for Arsenal or Liverpool, they'd be making him captain for that alone.

Bias purely because he plays for Everton and is happy at Everton, and doesn't want to move to one of their 'favourites'.

Yeah the expectation level for Barkley is far higher than it is for any other English midfielder. Media logic seems to be that he won't succeed until he moves to a 'big' club so they revel in his failure at Everton despite the fact he's out shining most of his peers.

I don't see it tbh, his main strength is driving our attack forwards and striking from distance rather than precision passing or tricky dribbling
 
Any time I read this thread it's like I'm watching a different player to most people.

I like the lad but wow, he's overrated on here.
