I've stuck up for Ross from day one and I'm not going to give up on him yet. Even last season I was sticking up for him, even though he was getting slated and people on here selling him for 10mil.
Even after his 1st season, I felt you wouldn't see him at his best until he was 24/25. And I still stand by that. He's been compared on here to gazza Gerard lampard scholes. Now I know he's a way off these players yet, but all of them were inconsistent at Ross's age. Lampard played four full years at West Ham before he got his Chelsea move at 23 . I remember seeing him for England under 21's when he was 20/21 and thinking what was all the fuse about.
Scholes didn't really become an England regular till he was 24.
Gazza had 3/4 yrs at Newcastle before he moved to Spurs in 88 and didn't really get in the England team, until just before the 90 World Cup.
He was amazing in the 91 season and gazza was 25.
A lot of people have mentioned about Ross not being the brightest and this holding him back. This maybe the case. Today he played deeper and this is another thing, him playing in loads of positions. I don't think he's a natural number 10 and would like to see him deeper, not as deep as today though.
Because he played really deep today, linggard was really close to him and when he got the ball it was easy for him to get tight. I'm sure we all were shouting at the tv for him to move and find space. If we can see this why isn't the manager coaching this. Why isn't he side on when he receives the ball. Or isn't looking to pull his marker out of position. If he hasn't got the brains to work this out surely the coaches should.
The guy is a marked man in nearly every game know.
I've said for 6 months now, he needs a new, manger and a tough one if he wants to become a really great player. Martinez has been great letting him grow and make mistakes. But he needs to kick on now. And needs someone to tell him a few home truths when he has a poor game.
Keep the faith
