This may have started as a piss-take, but maybe you're not aware that BBC Sport's Gossip Column for yesterday states the following: Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keeping tabs on midfielder Ross Barkley's progress at Everton - and could make a move for the 17-year-old in January.
Probably a load of b***s, since the BBC's source is the P****e, but i'm assuming that this is why the OP started the thread.

Well i'm hoping that this Board are gone soon, Matt. Enough is enough: Kenwright, for all i've admired him, has outstayed his welcome. He's had more than enough time to find a buyer since he first told us he was looking several years ago. I think the Board must be starting to sweat now, as they realise the tide of public opinion is turning against them, and hopefully that will give them a sharper focus on the reality of things before it all turns nasty. Like others have said, it's our Club, not theirs, regardless of what the legal documents might say. I'd better shut up now before the Mods come down on me!

This is a great thread, and there have been some really amusing posts, but articles like that do get me worried. I'm not sure it's that reassuring to say that Rodwell's still here despite similar rumours, because Rodwell hasn't so far come on as well as people expected and Barkley is potentially a greater talent. We've got to hold on to him, players like this can be crowd pullers as well as match winners.
But maybe you should just get negative rep for quoting a M*nk paper.
