Rooney's still a Blue!

And to everyone who thinks that Professional sportsmen, lavished early on with nothing but praise, surrounded by Yes Men and paid in the millions 'mature', think again. Moyes did everything he could to bring him into it slowly, teach him the ropes, and ground him as a man, but a little ego massaging from his agent and his mates and his heads turned like that. Yeah, real Blue there.

Sadly, I think this really started to kick into over drive when he started to play for England and the expectation of the nation and the lavish lifestyles of the Sky Four clubs and players. Suddenly the yellowy street lights of Croxteth began to diminish in favour of the bright lights of Las Vegas and the hip bars of Salford Keys. Remember how proud we were to see him pull on an England shirt and then beamed with pride when they referred to him as "Everton's, Wayne Rooney" ? Little did we know that even then, wheels had been put in motion and the man was being ushered into 'man-hood' by scurrilous agents and Frank Lampard esque promises of Champions League football and endorsements from global companies that would keep him in McHappy Meals for life..

Yeah, and I'll never leave my job to take a pay raise with another employer. Oh wait, I've already done so. So did Wayne. Deal with it. As Dylan said, he made mistakes along the way. Guess what? We all have. Wayne could have handled it a lot better. I'm figuring that he knows that too. It's been made clear to him everytime he's been back to visit Goodison.

Is there really one Evertonian who's gonna give me and others on here the line of crap about how they'd play for the club for free and that every other footballer should play for free as well? About how they'd never make a move to improve their financial position because of their love for their club? That they wouldn't make the jump to a club like Manchester United or Real Madrid (or Spurs) if they came calling because they're "blue through and through?" What is it about Evertonians and players when they leave our club? Do these Evertonians not live in the real world? Do they make these types of decisions in their day to day lives? I'm guessing not. But they'll sure as hell expect others to adhere to these standards. That much is clear.

But TX Bill, football is different. No, no it isn't. It's a job (with a limited shelf life I might add) and one that pays better than 95% of the jobs out there. Every player owes it to himself and his family to get the best wages possible. Uh oh...here it comes. Here comes the "Yeah but were talking 40 or 50k a week vs. 75k a week." Yeah, and if one person on here can tell me with a straight face that if they were ever faced with that sort of a decision, it would be easy to take the 40k because they "liked where they worked" and "felt loyalty to their employer," I'd submit that they're lying. Quite simply lying. In Texan vernacular, they're full of ****.

They only way I'd have him back is if he would improve what we already have. Today, he most definitely would. Five years from now? Who knows? If Moyes would have him back, then I would have him back. I've made my feelings clear in past Rooney threads regarding his agent and who I think the real force was behind him moving to United so I won't belabor the point. I also won't belabor the point regarding the fantastic payday we received for selling him.

Funny the expectations put on someone as young as he was at the time we sold him. Expecting perfection?

Has it really been seven years? I've moved on. So has he. Perhaps some Evertonians should move on as well.

Naaahhhh, he kissed the badge at Goodison mate. No one blames him for leaving anymore. But that, and that alone seperates him from the rest. Kissing the manc badge on his boyhood clubs ground? Dont care how much abuse he was getting. True blue wouldnt have done it. He's done. I hate him and hope he never has the pleasure of putting the blue shirt on again.

I didn't say he's mature, I said he's more mature.

Clearly he's still a bit of a manchild, but he's not nearly as bad as he was.

Point taken, my point is that when you radically change someone's childhood development, and replace it with what these guys go through, it would warp you at your core in ways we can't imagine. That's why they continually get into social trouble, because they never develop their social skills beyond getting exactly what they want.

Kevin off Home Alone was more mature.

LOL Yes.

Thanks TX, well put there mate.

On one hand I know exactly what your saying.

But on the other, you make a conscious decision to sell your soul. It's not taken likely. T

Nicely said mate. If someone brings you up, nurtures you, and then at the very first opportunity you knife them in the back, rather than getting your head down, and being loyal; my friend, as a religious man, you know that's not right. He let himself be turned over to the dark side, led down that path, seething that he should be Numero Uno at 17 years of age. I'll always remember one game where he was just watching Ferguson on the pitch, like a deer in the headlights, witnessing the guile and experience of a seasoned campaigner putting in a shift. We got behind him and put him on the pedestal, and he duly turned his back for money. Fair play, I'll bet no one mentioned to him that we'd hate him for it, or maybe he just couldn't care less.

go and get ye camera out skippy and take a few more photo,s ,you know nothing about how moyes brings players along ,or do ye ,good day mate

Moyes is a tough task master mate, and Rooney couldn't handle it. Simples

oh, and here you go. I took this for you.

No doubt, and as I'll reiterate, he's made plenty of mistakes. As EFCNIK pointed out, the badge kissing, for many, was a bridge too far. One that will never be rebuilt.

That's fair.

For me, I put that down for just being downright immature and/or stupid. I didn't get as bent out of shape about it. I still think he shouldn't have done it and a very small part of me suspects that he wishes he hadn't done it either. Lord knows there are things that I've done in my life that I thought were good ideas at the time but in retropsect, were just silly.

Either way, I think a lot of it is moot. IF he ever comes back to Everton:

1) It won't be until his recent five year deal is up
2) He'll comes on a free
3) Moyes (if he's manager at the time) would need to give his a-ok on the deal.

i think this (nice still life sparse composition, with a nod to warhol and an ironic cubist slant) would be more appropriate for the fans still whining and belly-aching about rooney kissing the badge (which was probably to wind up the dicks who boo-ed him) `Rooneys still a blue` and obviously thats something some peeps dont wanna get their heads round - the lad knows his own mind dont-you-know
