Rooney rejected Man Utd move twice

Is there a PR campaign to bring Rooney back to Goodison?

First the testimonial, the rumours and now this. Personally I don't care about this. I don't dislike Rooney or resent what he did but the time has passed. I've no doubt he would improve our first team playing the No10 role but there's no way he would be worth what Utd would ask for him and frankly I wouldn't want to pay around the same amount of money we received which is what he would cost. If he wanted to play for us he should have ran down his contract and come back on a free.

It's the same with Barkley. Once he goes he won't be coming back and he should take that into consideration.

I think it was pretty common knowledge that just about every club in the world was aware of Rooney as a 15-16 year old and would have tried to sign him.

He was by far the best player of his age in the world.

Seems ridiculous to say of England and, possibly, Manchester United's all time top scorer and a player who has won everything but I think his absolute peak as a player in pure excitement terms was his teenage years.

apples and oranges, first bids were before he'd even played for everton. no chance a born and bred blue would've moved

but a couple years down the line when you're the hottest property in world football and alex ferguson wants to quadruple (or more) your wages and put you in his starting eleven and you have a money grabbing scumbag in your ear it's a whole different ball game my friend

Wayne Rooney rejected a move to Manchester United twice before eventually going there in2004, according to SAF.

Am I reading to much into it, or is that a sign as to who really forced his move away from the club?

There have been lots of theories etc. about why Rooney, so in light of this story, I thoughtI'd play devils advocate.

you created a new login just to post that and pretty much logged off as soon as you did??

Yeah, you're reading to much into it.

Rooney turned down moves to Utd BEFORE he made his first team Everton debut. Fergie was trying to poach him to put him in Utd's Academy, and Rooney was happy at EFC's Academy.

Nothing really surprising at all.

I can't even figure out what he's read into never mind if he's read to much into it, so I can't see how he's playing devils advocate because he's seemingly got no view on it either way not matter what it is he's viewing and regardless of his opinion on that view.

If you see what I mean..
SAF forgot to mention he recruited Walter Smith as assistant Manager at UNT for the period of time to seal the Rooney deal, then Walter mysteriously moved on- Walter was not there for nothing, Rooney was sold far too cheaply, I am glad we have learnt by telling Chelsea were to go this time around regarding John Stones!

Interesting theory Joe I'd completely forgotten Smith had a spell as Fergies number 2.
