Honestly can't see how anyone can doubt that he has done a great job so far... the amount of dead wood he has cleared has been a job long overdue and that previous managers havnt done.. the improving of current players ... ross , rom, Davies, mirallas is a sign that players learn from him and play for him ... his honesty with the fans is much appreciated after bobby's delousional speeches. The defence has gone from a shambles to the 5th best in the league while improving our goals for and just setting a prem record for home wins on the bounce ... really hope we keep this going and am already looking forward to next season
Probably more concerned about it looks like we don't have the squad too fight on both fronts and so far most if not all of our signings are made up of player sales so we're losing two players and gaining 1 at this rate
There still is deadwood playing every week. Every manager removes players when they come into a job. He currently rates Bolasie over GeriD and also thought Joel and stekelenburg are good enough for number one.
The real test for Koeman is breaking into this so called top6, same as moyes struggled to break into the sky 4.
If we finish 7th next year we have to remove him and get someone who can take the club forward while it is possible to bridge the gap otherwise it will be a top6 small league and no difference between Everton Saints WBA etc.
Think next season will tell if he can take us forward. Spent 70 million to take us from 7th to 11th isn't massively impressive when WBA are 8th.
He's so far got an underachieving squad back to where they belong more or less.
If we are to move forward as a club we have to be able to finish top6 next year even with a long europa campaign. If not we will stagnate and have another moyes.
If Moshiri is serious he will sack a manager for coming 7th next year if not we have a steady eddie

I questioned Koeman at one point like many others. We had a good start followed by a horrific run of I think one win in 10 ?
It was during the start of the season where some subs were martin-esque., but as the result were good it didn't matter.
Once we had that bad run, I thought Koeman was experimenting a little bit too much, in this day and age you need to still get results, even if we all knew the manager was assessing his squad at that time.
Once he confirmed what he probably already knew, ie some players weren't good enough, he set to work about clearing them out.
Gibson, Cleverley, niasse as three examples.
Once he had a tighter squad, we seemed to get better results. The emergence of Holgate and davies could save us at least £30-40m in finding players to help the squad.
Overall Ronald/walsh/Moshiri/rhino, have brought back a great feeling, long overdue !
Home form has picked up. Service to the striker has improved. Better team performance all round.
As long as he doesn't spend huge money on decent players, (gylfi rumoured £140k a week), we should improve drastically over the course of his current contract.

Thought he was uber gash at first and thought his axe wielding bluntness seemed to affect morale and we were heading back towards Martinez type games. Fair play to him though his bluntness worked, he got rid of who he wanted to and has bought well in most cases and i have been more than happy with the second half of the season.
I'm looking forward to the summer and next season now, we are not that far away I don't think but all dependant on recruitment.

Really good read that, this I liked "Again, though, Koeman was on the move, this time to take over the reins at Valencia. Quique Sánchez Flores had just been sacked after back-to-back defeats in the Champions League, but Koeman was optimistic about the chance to manage at a higher level. “Valencia have good quality players so it’s a question of finding the right balance. They have very demanding supporters but football is for the public to enjoy.”
This is how it should be, we can be demanding for results but still expect a level of entertainment, all day long that is what I want to hear from a manager.

maybe only 1 place, but the difference between us and WBA is absolutely huge at the moment, we are closer to 5th/6th than what any of the clubs behind us are to everton. that for me is very impressive.... all in less than one season that is, without a propa summer with the late appointment etc

Wait, so one moment its "We've spent nothing, wheres the net spend?", and the next its "its taken 70 million t o move up 4 places"? Or in reality its "I dont like the truth, who cares about facts when you can complain about everything". In reality we have spent 15 million to move up 4 spots. And considering that includes Bolasie, who isnt playing, that means we have done it with players that cost less than the ones we sold. Massively impressive.
There's not that much "Dead wood " left tho... he couldn't come straight in and get rid of 13 players... Lennon, jags, Mori, McCarthy, Kone, and one of the keepers will all be gone next season.. that along with Oviedo, cleverley, niasse, Gibson, Gerri, osman and mgeady is a massive clear out...Barry could well be gone too... no manager has done that in my lifetime ... and it has needed to be done for years. His signings so far have improved the team mostly ( not talking about fees paid) just taking into account the players which the signings replaced ... if he continues to make decent signings then we really will have a fresh new squad and will be looking very optimistically towards the new season

Me neither. We all want to be in the Champions League and, as far as I'm concerned, we need to pick up as much European experience as we can along the way. Also get used to playing 2 games per week and the midweek travel. Also try and get our coefficient ranking up so we don't end up in Pot 4 when we do get into the CL. Plus it give us an opportunity to give first team experience to some of our youth players. Plus it makes us more attractive to some European footballers. Plus it gives us more match day income. Plus is opens up more advertising streams for us. Plus it gives us fans an opportunity to get away from the missus for a few days. 'kin hell. This is becoming a Python sketch
Our wage bill is closer to Hull then it is any of the top 6 including Spurs who are idolised by some on here.
We had ample time last summer too spend in accordance in with our wage bill increased allowed by stones sale. Ended up with promises not kept and signings like Valencia and Fulham crap as number one.
End of the day I won't and many other fans won't be happy with us being worse than moyes era. Partly due to previous failure of manager but let's not get excited over 7th.
Fair assessment, I don't hold everton too the standards Martinez set in latter years. He's got us solid at home when there's no pressure, when it is a test we fail with backs to wall away from home.
We will sign better players under Koeman than moyes, and he is different in many ways but so far he's got us 7th in same position Moyes did and is getting an easy ride along with Walsh and Moshiri because fans can get few 'boss aways in europa la'
Meanwhile mid table and out of both cups.
