Ronald Koeman discussion

Martinez put together a very good first 11 in his first season. He had us playing a way we never had under Moyes. Toward the end of the first season other teams worked out how to play against us and we had a poor finish to the season. Then we had two seasons finishing eleventh without any attempt to try a new formation or a different way of playing even though we'd been well and truly sussed out.

Koeman has already started building a squad that is capable of playing a variety of formations. We've played three at the back, a 433 and even the old 4231 which was effective at times. Not only is Koeman willing to change formations depending on who we're playing, he will also admit his mistakes if the game isn't going right and will make changes as early as 25 minutes in. I don't see how anyone can be upset or unimpressed with the start Koeman has made.

we have won 11 league games so far this season...last season we won 11 all season and the season before we won 12. How can a manager go from winning 21 in his first season to 12 then 11. Its pretty dire to be honest and the right choice to sack him was made. Koeman has learned a hell of a lot about the players here and tested and tried different formations and style and had a roller coaster ride but has changed things to suit rather than sticking to one way and crossing his fingers.

He wasn't backed. The cowardly players downed tools. Us nasty fans made it negative when he was always trying to be positive. He wanted us to play football from the gods.
We've made our bed now. Stuck with a bloody long ball, straight talking, ambition before personal touch, nasty winner.
We will regret it as Boobie goes on to international football success, and then takes over at Liverpool and they win the quadruple, and we get relegated...

Yeah mate like we proved last Saturday

And against City, Palace, Southampton. Need we go on?

Fact is, we don't play hoofball as Dave makes out. We just sprinkle it in there every now and again. And it's not like it's Allardyce's percentage game either, it's when we've got a runner free - usually Lukaku and we can hit him in stride.

The brain dead possession game for zombies is gone and using the ball with purpose is here. Viva la Revelucion.

Koeman coming in with the KO on Bobby is brilliant.

I mean of all the things Martinez could've said, questioning our defence was completely the wrong one.
It's actually not mate. I find it depressing that this man in the dugout we have right now confirms with almost every public pronouncement my fears about his attitude. He's very thin skinned if he took anything of what Martinez had to say out of context and then go on some pathetic attack against a former Everton manager. It underlines his insecurities as a manager and adds nothing whatsoever to his standing. But it's not just with Martinez as we know. His attitude towards certain players and certain situations that have happened outside the club underline a worrying disrespect and petulance that is in no way becoming of an Everton manager. That sort of gobiness might be ok at other clubs like Newcastle, Liverpool. Chelsea or wherever, but it's not something I want associated with this club.

The last few weeks have been positive for us on the field, so what this new outburst does is deflect from that and potentially much more: it sets him and us up for a fall. Hubris is usually met with a swift kick in the balls at some point. We all know that in this game what goes around comes around.
