Dave regularly likes talk down the quality of the football that last season under Moyes (To his own detriment really because it's a massive blind spot on his behalf that hurts his overall argument) but there were times during it when we played very well indeed

To me, it was probably one of the most consistently good Everton sides I can remember watching

We played a more expansive game that season, with the benefit of hindsight it was probably in part driven by Moyes desire to be seen as a manager who could deliver attacking football, as he knew he was in with a shout of the United job. But irrespective of any motives the football that season was very good in the most part.

For all Dave's pontificating about the 72 point season, and the great Everton 'entertainers' under Martinez, we only scored 6 more goals that season than we did in Moyes last one - and Martinez had the benefit of the top quality striker that Moyes had always craved, but couldn't attain due to the financial restraints.

To deny that the football we played that last season under Moyes was of a quality is either delusional or attempting to re-write history.

Koeman isn't going anywhere for quite some time to come so your point regarding our next manager is irrelevant.

The performance against Swansea away stands out to me, as well as the win over Southampton at home

Both games were pretty much over by half time we played so well

Fellaini was imperious in that Swansea game and we played some lovely stuff against Saints

Your refusal to accept the truth regards that season is a constant black mark to your name

Simply fess up and admit what pretty much everyone else on here, even people who don't like Moyes, accept

Give him his due credit regards 12/13 and stop denying it, you're only making a rod for your own back and looking silly in the process

As far as your post prior to this goes, we'll simply have to accept that we like different things in that regard and have different feelings to the game of football. Nothing wrong with that, there is no "right" answer in that regard if you ask me. It's purely subjective

Think it's a good point actually, Koeman won't be here for the long haul.

It's just not in his nature, I'm hoping he does a great job for the two seasons he is here.

Whenever Moyes had his quality top players fit we played decent stuff. 07-10 we played consistently good football with Arteta Pienaar Osman Cahill Yak Lescott playing very nice stuff. Once that team got ripped apart though we reverted to a more pragmatic style Fellaini Rodwell Heitinga in midfield etc. Then in the last season and a half with Gibson Pienaar Jelavic Mirallas Naismith in we started playing some decent stuff again.

In the main Moyes had very limited players to work with in a very competitive league. When he did have some quality though he showed he was capable of very nice football. I'm sure if he'd had 30 mill for Lukaku and older Stones and Barkley it might have been even better.

I disagree completely, if he's given decent money to invest and time to build something special why would he walk away? Besides, where could he go better then here at this point of his career?

To be fair mate, I'd argue it's relevant because it relates back to Koeman's tactics and the overall theme of Direct Vs Technical which has been a big part of the transition of Martinez to Koeman

Relating back to Moyes play in 12/13 comes back to Koeman as he seems to be wanting to go for a similar flavour of play, with good players being prepared to take a direct approach when required

As someone who liked the 12/13 team, I would personally like to see Koeman go in that direction, and I think others in this thread agree, which is why I'd argue discussing what was good about that team "earns" it's place in a Koeman discussion, though the approach may be slightly more abstract than a direct comment on Koeman himself

However, you're the mod and I'll respect your stance accordingly

I still say that we should look at Loew as a possible Koeman replacement following the 2018 World Cup
