Ronald Koeman discussion

Those who shrug their shoulders at this and say "Ah well its the truth, innit" are missing the point.

More to the point they are doing Everton, its fans , the club, a disservice.

I was thinking about this before, and it struck me. Everton are the 4th most successful club side in England, we do have many things to be proud of. It just seems that for me, we dont big ourselves up as much as we should. Even we have begun to believe 'little old Everton'

The truth is, there is not many bigger than Everton. Koeman should remember this.

This is the way i am thinking as well. We moan when the print media are constantly trying to sell our players by linking them with every club going but to have our own manager come out with a comment like he did is very disrespectful, a lot of things about Koeman are starting to worry me, his mouth being the biggest one and his tactics coming in a close second.

I'm also really concerned that Moshiri seems to have completely missed the point about why Everton fans are angry at his comments, its because a manager should not be so public about them but i get the feeling that Moshiri loves Koeman as much as Kenwright loved Martinez and Moyes and so he can do no wrong.

I'm not fumin that he said it. His job is to take us back into that elite group so that the statement he made isn't true
I'm fumin because if he is telling the truth it means he is taking our money but doesn't think he can do what he is taking the money for.

Mate, he bigged up a 0-0 draw at Watford as "the perfect away performance," he is an expert turd polisher.

When did we have a scoreless draw at Watford during Bobby's tenure, Wat :p

But seriously......for all his many faults one thing he never did was belittle us in the media the way Koeman has this week.

And that means sommat in my book.

;)

According to UEFA's world club rankings of all time here http://www.clubworldrankings.com/uefa.htm Barcelona are the second most successful team in football history. We are 37th. Big as we are (and we are), I don't think it's unreasonable for a professional athlete with no prior connections to the club to see them as a step up.

No one really is complaining about a player making a 'step up'.

The problem here is the 'manager' of the club

Maybe Koeman is softening us up for a moneyball move, with Rom out and a bunch of unknowns in. I would not be surprised if RK wants to move Rom on, if the player doesn't suit what he wants. We supporters are probably so far in the dark we are not within cooee of the behind the scenes machinations. I trust RK to know what he's doing, but the timing of this was poor given the result at Chelsea.

His words will have zero effect on whether Lukaku stays at Everton or goes or whether a player signs a 5 year contract. Really cannot understand why people get so upset about someone talking about someone else's career or talent. Everyone involved in this an adult
Completely agree with you, He is just saying it as it is.The bedwetter's just can't cope with reality

Moshiri on Koeman's comments:

"Ronald Koeman said he believes Romelu will develop into one of the best strikers in the world in the next two to three years and wouldn’t be out of place at his old club, Barcelona."

A mate of mine from Belgium read the original article and he said that's exactly what Koeman was quoted as saying.

His remarks have been mistranslated by our 'papers.

The only reason that this has made such a big splash, is because there are people who still view us as a big club. Comments like this are controversial and therefore newsworthy. If Lukaku played for Burnley and their manager came out with the same no one would bat an eyelid.

I just wish Koeman subscribed to those views.

No mate, its more that it's a big news story because it allows the papers free reign on running lukaku to x,y,z clubs again which they love to do.

It also allows them to pat us on the head in a condescending manner the way they did under moyes. Simply put can't defend koeman on this, rule 1 is you never denigrate the club your at, and you never call them a small club which to all intents he has done.

Glad in a way as will stop the bumming of koeman and now will put pressure on him to deliver as a lot of the good will he had will have gone with that interview. Now it's as it should be, results and performances, over to you Ronald.
