I just don't get why he isn't hungry any more. He did a great job of man marking Silva last month because he didn't have to chase the ball, or make any incisive passes, the kind of things he used to do in spades when he first got in the team.

I want to give him a good shake.

His goal today was well taken at least.

I think the problem with him at first today, was that Moyes more or less tried to play him as a creative center mid rather than a ball winning defensive mid. He didn't really get involved too much as far as winning the ball back was concerned.

I think one of the criticisms of him in the past is that he wasn't rough enough and didn't assert himself in midfield enough and today I think that was the case.

When we're missing Fellaini we NEED someone that can win us the ball back and get involved. Neville didn't do that badly when he was on the pitch. As soon as he was off, Rodwell should have stepped into that role. Heitinga just wasn't doing it.

Unfortunately, when it was Osman playing CM when Cahill came on, he really didn't do much of that either.

FFS when your team movement is crap... and you cannot string two passes together... who the hell is going to look good? Plus he scored....

He's never been hungry, that's why he will never reach anywhere near his potential. The lad's got no spunk! You can't change a personality.

Here, lets not make is goal turn his performance into a positive one cos tbh, he was ****, like alot of the others!. And when his movement in midfield when off the ball is the worst in our team and then when he does get the ball he only plays the way he's facing or backwards, then there's no hope for him as a midfielder IMO!.

I'd just love him to have the confidence and composure to take the ball, turn on it and look about the pitch and look to go forwards first rather than just pass the ball back the way it came from or go back to the CB's like he ALWAYS does.

Ive not seen enough in him this season to suggest he will turn the corner and fulfill his potential and be a good midfielder, he just doesnt do enough, he doesnt move into the pockets of space to recieve the ball and be able to turn on it and get his head up like all the best midfielders are capable of, when tracking players he's all over the place and doesnt seem to have a clue wether to close down or follow his man, unless he's doing a man marking job.

For me, he's got a long way to go to convince me he's going to be any good in that midfield. Moyesy as always said he sees him as a future CB and maybe it's time at some point this season to start bedding him back into one alongside Jags.

I think he does what he's told to a tee.

i agree with this ...i think his career has been so stop start he puts full trust in what he is been told rather than taking the respondsibility him self

The way I see it, is that he's told to let or help Fellaini/Neville break up play then distribute to the wingers or wing backs - switch from left to right - and have pot shots from outside the box. That's what he does. Im pretty sure he's just told to hover around the middle of the park.

Add to the fact 50% of our game is to hoof it to Cahill/Saha...there's no real need for him to bomb forward or take the game by the scruff.

If you see with Barkley that he's tried driving the team, grabbing it by the scruff and been chastised and benched for it.
