"Rodwell out for several weeks"

Bascombe's quite close to the Merseyside clubs. We'll see how much Everton want to hold onto him in January.

20m is a joke of a figure, but no doubt if offered it would be accepted and Rodwell would become the latest Judas.

If accepted, it would be accepted by the club & then Rodwell would have to agree terms. Considering that if he refused, then he'd be playing here under the knowledge that the club wanted to cash in, so I can't see why he'd be the Judas.

On the other hand, if you're just trolling/winding up...meh...4 out of 10.

I think Goat meant he'd be portrayed as a Judas (by the Board or whatever) rather than actually would be.

Ive said it before, anybody who leaves at the moment, is NOT a Judas.

But as the man above says, The Propaganda machine will try spin him as 1.

I wouldnt sell him for 20m, hes 50 times the player Lescott was/is.

So for around 1bn, I would consider it.

Maddock at the Mirror is in Moyes' pocket. I doubt he'd be attributing to Moyes an attitude on a deal if it wasn't being seriously contemplated. It's probably alerting other clubs to his availability more than a firm link with Chelsea.

Anyone who read that report I linked yesterday on the club's finances will see this is exactly what the board has to do each financial year simply to stand still now. The annual accounts underline that to not go into red ink letters with its creditors the club has to indicate and follow through a policy of sales - and, in fact, the loan deals cut and bank overdrafts faclities stipulate this constant willingness to sell.

That article again: http://www.twohundredpercent.net/?p=16839

Yeah very good read that. One of the most worrying lines for me was

'And whilst “post-balance sheet events” reference “net transfer fees receivable of £13.032m” (mostly from the August deadline day departure of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal), Everton’s £5.4m losses, after selling Bellefield for £8.4m, suggest this needs to be an annual event.'

One top youngster or international to be sold every year or 2 then for the foreseeable future. Bad times ahead unsurprisingly.

There's no way we're going to accept any crap offer that comes along. He's a player we want to keep, who has no particular desire to leave. We're in a strong bargaining position, having tied him to a long term contract, and seeing his stock rise again after his England debut. If we were prepared to turn down £15m for Jags I see no reason why we wouldn't turn down £20m for Rodwell.

Think it was £10m we turned down for Jags. £15m might have sealed the deal.
