Rock 'n' Roll pronounced dead....

I live in the musical underground anyway. Can't be arsed to turn on the radio in my car because there's nothing on I want to hear. Who's fault is that? Not mine. Radio programmers have "killed" it but it's not dead and will never die. I'll keep supporting bands who make quality music with my hard earned and the rest can go fcuk off and listen to the latest disposable club hit or mass produced "country" song and I'll happily enjoy the rest of my life listening to music that matters.

90% of what I listen to is produced on indie labels that share the profits with their artists equitably, instead of leaving them broke and in debt if they don't sell 5 million records in the first week.

Well said jdawg, mate.

You're deluded if you think there isn't any great rock anymore. There is tons of it. It just doesn't sell as many copies, because good music is rarely radio friendly; instantly catchy but ultimately disposable. No, good music takes time to understand, but stays with you for years.

All anyone needs to do is go to the Ale House and see our conversations and links to bands and music and you can see how much great music there is out there. I'm an obsessive and guys like Alio, RFUS, Heat, Giraffe, Llama, Bluetak et all turn me on to new stuff.

Anyone who thinks that whatever is in the "charts" is all that's worthwhile to listen to needs to wake up. It's out there. Go find it.

You know it always surprises me when I go to shows for bands that I'm absolutely certain that no one has heard of but me. I half expect to be the only one there. Then I show up and it's packed. It's a really gratifying experience actually.

I concur! Its just developed and evolved; add that to cult bands such as One Minute Silence, Spineshank, Faith No More, ALICE IN CHAINS and Limp Bizkit reforming and the future looks bright!

Top stuff in here J Dawg. I just wrote a massive response, but I sounded totally up my own ass, ha

Basically I was getting annoyed that Rhianna has equalled some Elvis record this week.....how? And how X Factor had the audacity to change the title of Many of Horror to When We Collide, for the X factor song this year is beyond me. It's like they were telling Biffy Clyro where they went wrong......

My friends all listen to radio 1 and think I'm some sort of band spotter. Where in truth I read about new bands and old bands in magazines. Simple as that really. It's not hard. Its interesting, and much better =)

Look maybe we're all weird. But I really do get a buzz out of discovering a new band. I feel like an archeologist who has dug up a new bone or something.

When I ask people what music they listen to and they respond "oh everything. Whatever's on the radio". For some reason I get really annoyed. I know they mean well. But it does my head in...
