Robert Elstone Echo Interview

Another 6 to 12 months for the new stadium to take shape, bet we read the same nonsense in 12 months time. Squeezing the oranges quote cracks me up ie. we will still be prudent with money so Roberto get's about £15m for the summer budget
“The stadium will continue to be something of really high priority. There is optimism that we will deliver it. There clearly is one site we’re doing a lot of work on and if things fall in the right way and we get commercial success; bringing on board support from the local authority and the public sector then we can be hopeful"

We're nearly there then; just got to square it with the local authority to give land away to them and get a private contractor to build the stadium. Look at the progress that's been made there. They've really bounced back with a plan of action.

Well done Mr Elstone; well done for bringing us within touching distance of a new stadium.

"For eight minutes at Chelsea we were the better team and then got robbed"

Really for just eight minutes!

The sooner this embarrassment is replaced by DBB the better.

What happens then though?

Ok, she's not Elstone. That's an improvement. But did you see her fawning letter thanking the wonderful chairman and CEO the other day?

There'll be no tangible change with any of this lot in charge.

I will keep saying this but Bill and Sunatan have got this..have some faith.

Spade in the ground soon for the apartments at FF and then we will pull the stadia project out of the long grass in 12 months time for an annoucement at the next AGM.

I hate it when fans are called thick and guillable because we trust the club to do what,s right off the pitch. These fellas are not playing with pin money this is big business and they should be given another 10 years to ensure they can putt the cheery on the cake.

Elstone: "just because we have £80M rolling in from Sky doesn't mean we can put our feet up and puff on a cigar".

Oh no, perish the thought. That sort of approach wouldn't have allowed for the massively successful commercial operation he runs.

Keep your feet off the table and leave those cigars alone, Robert. We rely on you for the 10 bob you generate every season.

Does anyone know where I can find the non-existant planning application for the YMCA at Finch Farm? As I'd like to object to the non-existant planning application on the grounds that I think it will be stupid to neglect investment in the first team just to build a YMCA on a premises that we rent and have no ownership of.

It's true that youth setups are a complete waste of money.

I'd imagine the Village People might know...

I think what Robert is trying to say is that its health and safety which stops him smoking cigars at his desk.

He's just riding Roberto's popularity here.

Nothing of substance. Just saying - Roberto is great, the team played great, look how good we did. He needs to go. We need someone with actual ideas of how to improve off the pitch.

"His mind is rarely far from matters of finance and taking the club forward off the pitch, but Elstone says that many of his highlights of last term married both events on and off the field."

Then he goes on to talk pretty much exclusively about success on the pitch and no ideas on how to improve our finances.

There isnt one and never has been, wouldnt be a shock if it will never will be either.

The plan was thrown out there as PR and it was assumed to take a lump sum out of the supposed transfer budget but now as Elstone states that its still just a 'plan' we should expect that money to be allocated to transfers.

He never has had and will never have.

With this sudden PR from Elstone in this interview and on Radio Merseyside tonight standby for bad news if past experience is anything to go by.
