I'm on strava yeah, although only get involved with the KOMs on the commute. Mountain biking all the segments are sewn up by some serious riders round our way (Peak district) - quite humbling to really throw the coal down on a climb and find out you're 72/112.
Even without the segments I still like using it (or endomondo) just to map the ride.

Cyclists are a 'kin nuisance. They claim road space over and above their size, many disregard the rules of the road and yet pay no part in it's upkeep

Ban the lot

Or better still make them pay road tax, pass a test, at great expense like us motorists, pay for an MOT, pay for compulsory Insurance, again at great expense for they are,I'm sure in the eyes of the Insurance underwriters as big a risk as at 20yr old boy racer

Oh and they should be shot for crimes against fashion ( except the fit female ones )....mmmmm bike seats.

Tongue only slightly in cheek.....mmmm bike seats

You mean the emissions tax that we pay for the emissions we emit? Hasn't been a road tax for over 50 years. You'll find electric cars pay the same tax as cyclists. Roads are paid for out of general taxation, which most cyclists pay plenty of.

I'm truly stumped for a reply mate.....I own 4 bikes and 2 cars.....I'm going to hell aren't I ?

How does it work fellas? I mean whenever I go riding in the lanes I struggle to get any kind of 3g signal. Isn't that an issue?
It's on the gps signal mate, so you need either a phone with gps or just a dedicated unit. Signal is generally worldwide as far as I know, but will drop occasionally in tree cover etc. Not an issue for general mapping but can be a total ballache if it drops when you're hammering a segment (which might be only a minute long say), and your effort won't then register.

only in a hand cart, or maybe one of your cars and only then if its not a hybrid

nb If you own a V8 you go directly to Heaven, you DO pass Go and you DO collect 200

Ah cool, shall give it a go in the new year when my legs are better :D

I record every ride on gps then up load it and check my results with other riders, really gives me incentive to push harder. You also get a lot of good information on local climbs.
