Ripping or clipping your fingernails

The wiping thread inspired me to run a poll on this. I clip my fingernails and try to keep them at a decent lenght for opening cans etc. Nothing annoyes me more than being unable to open a can with your fingers because of nail length. However, most people I know, even girls, rip their nails. What's your take on this important matter?

Ah yes that technique. I'm not all too familiar with the non clipper/scissor ways.

I get my nails as far down as possible which ever way Necessary till they pain no more [Nail bed what ever its called] [i have never liked having long nails] despite my Job working with food etc in Jacobs wanting you to have long nails which to me is wrong as you can Obviously get loads of dirt in them
