hi neville rip the babes,

As this has never happened to any other team of such standing (that I know of, at any rate) in my lifetime, it's hard to truly appreciate the impact it had - or would have if it happened today.

I know for all my dislike of our illustrious neighbours, should something similar happen to them, I know I would feel the same as I did regarding Hillsborough - physically sick. Crushed. Devastated. I had a personal stake in what happened there too.

Munich '58 should serve as a constant reminder that it's only a game. In the grand scheme of things football is not all that important. People are what matter.

I may come across as a bitter old sod here from time to time, but I don't really mean it. Not much, anyway. :)

Munich '58 was not only a tragedy for Manchester United's supporters, but for the world of sport.

May they all be resting in peace - and let that terrible disaster be a source for good - not animosity.

Too many too soon

Parkinson was interviewing Bobby Charlton and make a remark on the randomness of some dying and some untouched, much like yourself Bobby ( or the gist thereof ) again the gist.... no surprise to me said Bobby my seat faced backwards I was pushed into my seat and me and the seat went sideways out into the snow. Until then this was the first time in 50 years that Bobby had made any sort of in depth comment, such was the trauma

The Elizabethen aircraft was I think the last commercial plane to have rear facing seats

Although modern day military transports still have rear facing seats.
