Zatara

Player Valuation: £100m
Neville / Jagielka / Yobo / Hibbert have all been played there.....

Time to give Coleman a run there I think.....

Wenger is quoted today as saying winning sides have 2 good attacking full backs....

And we currently have the world class Baines and the terrible Hibbert.

I do not understand why Coleman is not our first choice right back.

TBF i wouldnt be taking defensive tips of Arsne Wenger.

It's not a defensive move its a 'winning' move.

I cant see any Hibbert or Neville being classed as a decent right back.

It depends on who doing the classing my friend, they are more relieable then Seamus atm tbf, Hibbert prob has been player of the seaon so far for me this season.

Why would you give him that accolade ?

He's been Mr Average in many average or below par performances....

For what its worth mine would be Rodwell or Fellaini.....sadly no attack minded players this season have performed.

Which is preceisely due to the lack of a playmaker and defensive positioned players pushing up -- which is why Coleman should be right back.

He has been superb defensivley in the main when you see our fixtures and the players hes been up against. Hes been excellent this season he gets a lot of unfair stick from Evertonians as does Osman - who is better player then Pienaar incidently.

I think its wrong to be talking in definites about how we have been this season we have just gotten over 6 a weeks chunk of really tough fixtures so i wouldnt be making cast iron assertions on how good we are, tbh i think we are a hell of a lot better then this time last year and signs are there for me.

I think it would be fair to say that both would be classed as a "decent" right back.

Hibbert on his day can't be broken down.

For the record, I'm ok with trying to upgrade the position.

The problem is that we have many other pressing needs (as mentioned in your other thread) and our money is tight.

Osman is nowhere near the player Pienaar was for US. Neither have an end product and are more of a link-man rather than a playmaker -- BOTH should have been in Cahills position for years which would have imp-roved our overall play.

Pienaar was fantastic with Baines -- Osman has been good in a few games behind the forward during his entire career, his best game was against Macclesfield in the cup a few seasons ago.

Hibbert -- He may look superb defensively but that is 50% of his job (in my opinion). He would have been an England full back a couple of decades ago alongside Earl (smash it into the stands) Barrett, but the game has moved on.

Look at the amount of attacking Baines does yet because we are pushing on down that side the opposition are pushed back also.....Hibbert being ultra defensive enables the opposition to attack down our right side...

Its a fact that we concede something like 80% of our goals from that side -- logically if Coleman was played at right back we should see a similar situation to our left side.

hibbert has been tucking in far too much and leaving his position free. this has cost us goals on a regular occurrence. i am not sure if coleman is defensively us to it yet either although if donavon returns he would probably help coleman. either of then is better than neville though.

At this point though I'm not sure when to move Seamus back... There never seems to be a good time, and his heart doesn't seem to be in it.

Telling though that Moyes in his quotes about LD said "we need speed and width on the right." Isn't Seamus supposed to give you that? Unless we're planning to move him back? If I was Seamus I'd be a little WTF about the comments in all honesty.

When has Wenger last won something

This.

Hibbert is a great defender, but doesn't offer much going forward. I'd take Tony Hibbert at Right back any day for everton as his defensive presence frees Baines to tear up the left side. Just look at some of his tackles when you're not too busy cleaning up the eruption of jizz from when he scores (soon). Neville is a solid defensive mid who works splendidly with marking assignments (think Gareth Bale in our games against spurs last season). He doesn't fit too well as a right Fullback in our system, but that's not his position by trade.

I noticed against Fulham that Hibbo did tuck in far too much, and often left their wide left player unmarked, which led to them having a few decent chances. He needs to sort that out because the only reason he's in the team is because of his defensive qualities. He has been good this season, overall though.

I think Coleman should start RB against lesser teams who we're expected to beat (not many, granted), as he needs defensive experience if he's ever going to be our RB.

Right back has always been a problem area for me.

When playing as Everton on any computer related thing, I always purchase a new one as soon as I can.
