Robert Jarvis

Player Valuation: £35m
Looks like we need to refresh our search for a RB to replace Hibbo and Neville. It is not going to be Coleman, this lad looks ready made for an attacking RM if you role like very much in the Gerrard mode.

Seems to me he could be a waste at RB.

When we get Landon, then I don't think he'll be a waste at RB at all.

Landon knows how to bring others into play, and can spot a pass, so he'd be a dream for Coleman to link up with. And Coleman loves to defend, you can tell, he loves going in for full blooded tackles. Some might say he'd be wasted in RM.

I personally think we can have the best of both worlds with him. I mean look at Baines -- he's often our main attacking outlet, but no one's calling for him to play on the wing.

But people have raised ? about his defending. As for LD not convinced he will be returning.

Well yes Seamus' needs to work on his defensive game, but not as much as we think.

I mean I'd say he's already better than Glen Johnson defensively, and he's got a lot more pace than Nev and Hibbo -- something which is very handy indeed against pacey wingers.

And how will he improve as a RB if he doesn't get to play RB? A solid run of games in the league there would do him the world of good.

We've got RB's coming out of our ears. It's not a problem position. My fear is what happens if baines were to pick up an injury.

Nev would play there. He's a competent LB, in the defensive department, but we've got no one to replace Baines' attackign qualities.

Coleman is in a funny position: if we get an out and out RM in January/summer then he isn't staying in that position and I'm not sure at all he's a better option than either Neville or Hibbert at RB. Seems strange that he's getting all the plaudits at the moment yet his position selection becomes questionable with one new signing.

---------- Yakubu ----------
-------------- Cahill ---------
Pienaar -------------- Coleman
-------- Fellaini -- Arteta -----
Baines -- Distin -- Jagielka -- Neville

Or (If Pienaar out/Donovan in etc.)

---------- Yakubu ----------
-------------- Cahill ---------
Bilyaletdinov ---------- Donovan
--------- Fellaini -- Arteta ----
Baines --- Distin -- Jagielka -- Coleman

I think that Coleman just has to be fit into the starting 11 somewhere. He is genuinely as important to us as Cahill and Arteta when it comes to our attacking play. To finally have someone with the drive, skill and pace to get behind and past defenders and get good balls in is something that we just can't do without.

agree that coleman has to start. but what about rodwell when he comes back?! theres just not enough room in the midfield. idunno

moyes needs to find that group of 4 (out of 6-7 potential starters) that mesh perfectly, no matter the position. i would feel much better with 4 midfielders who just move around the field rather than the best midfielder at each position. thats why moyes gets paid the big bucks, to find those 4.
