2021/22 Richarlison

This week I've seen fans turn their nose up at Christian Eriksen, and now they are turning their nose up at Lucas Moura.

What standard of player do folks think we are actually going to be able to attract after narrowly avoiding the championship and having very limited spends?

Obviously wouldn't like to see Richy go, but he clearly wants out now. So, If its £51m + Moura, we should be biting their hands off.

£51mil + Moura would be a disaster. Theres simply no logic to that deal as we'd be stuck with Moura (not a good player) and paying his wages...

The £51mil + Bergwijn deal isnt 'too bad' but still not great...its more about us needing to sell him to Ajax quickly which makes it pointless for Spurs not to just sell him and pay us the money.

£51mil + Winks is ok if Lampard wants him. In which case we'd need to sign Gilmour as well so if one is out then we have another who can play the deep playmaking role.

I'd be asking for £65mil + Dane Scarlett. Take it from there.

Lucas Moura is rubbish and also 30 so no we shouldn’t be biting their hands off, transfers like that are the reason we’re in the mess we’re in. We should not be signing any players over the age of 27 unless they’re free and on short terms deals or absolutely exceptional.

There should be no players over 23 unless low cost and in key leadership/experience roles.

"Zatball".

Probs because he’s miles better than Richarlison.
Is he though, he scored loads last season but before? He is only a year younger than Richarlison and stats in the Bundesliga do not easily translate into the same form in the Premier League. Richarlison is playing in a tougher league in a team struggling, RB Leipzig finished 4th in a much weaker league. Richarlison is not a gamble for a PL club he has been one of our best players for 4 seasons. Nkunku has never played in the PL.

In an ideal world, I don't disagree.

But players in their prime, that fit the profile you've outlined and who materially improve our squad are out of reach either financially or aren't interested.

Taking a couple of 29 year olds who materially improve our squad and help us to consolidate both our financial position and league status over the next season or two is not a bad thing.

Vitali Mykolenko
Nathan Patterson
Demarai Gray
Dele
Donny VDB
El Ghazi
Moise Kean

These are the players we have managed to attract recently that fit the profile you describe, with the exception of Gray (and possibly with time Mykolenko) those types of signing haven't improved us. if it's more of this - we will go down.

Lucas Moura doesn’t improve our squad at all though. He is an absolutely bang average winger who scores 2 goals a season, he isn’t even an upgrade on Anthony Gordon.

He scored 11 goals this season in the CL & EL. I’m not even getting into this debate. He’s a better player.

Is Richarlison really a first choice starter for Brazil ? Most of the games he starts for them are when they have weakened squads such as at the Olympics etc.

Be surprised if he’s starting for them at the World Cup
