He's not playing well but I don't think lack of effort is an issue. I think it's to do with confidence and rhythm.
Hard to put your finger on it. He seems a yard slower than normal and has lost that bit of zip. Always seems to make the wrong decision, delay the pass to long or lose the ball. Is it worth resting him for a couple of games to try and get that hunger back? Normally you would say keep playing him to play is way through it but to be honest, as looked out of sorts for a while now

He is forcing it on the pitch trying to win games as an individual as oppose to playing within his role in the team.

2 or 3 league goals is it this season? Let's have less of the "he's in a bad run of form" and see it for what it is - we got a good season out of him but actually he's not all that good and is now a hindrance to the other players on the field. Take what we can and get rid in the summer, after all, wasn't he the one who so graciously offered to stay "one more year"?
