It had to do with the Bernard substitution. I don't think Carlo trusted Bernard defensively or something because he played in the middle.

Cant doubt Carlo. He knows what he's doing. And as the pundits are saying... everything was done in the game was under instruction. Played the players that will carry it out

I hope some people can see now that Richarlison isnt a proper CF and in this rigid Italian 442 system we would thrive with DCL'S workrate alongside a Lukaku type slotter.

Get Richarlison out wide as Iwobi/Gordon/Walcott/Bernard just do not cut the mustard - lad can cut in & puts in tackles and defends when he needs to.

Waste of a top class wide player imo.

after he rinsed lovern twice, carlo switched him to van dijk's side, i didnt get that strategy. anyways good game by the lads!
Definitely not ideal but he can rely on Richarlison defensively to track back. Bernard is so lightweight. This is where in the summer if we can strengthen the right wing, switching him wide late on might be less frequent.

The fact that he got 5 shots away and caused problems against the best defense in the league while playing striker has in fact not told me that he shouldn't play striker anymore.

Look at where Gordon and Iwobi spent their time this game. Iwobi especially played essentially RWB. Why would we do that with out best attacker again?

Because against Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea & Liverpool we have taken 2 out of 12 points scoring just 3 goals.

If you are happy just staying up every season thats alright but for an actual fight for top 6 we are light years away.

I prefer to blame the bad players when we play bad.

How do you feel about Paul Pogba? Is he to blame every time United lose too? That's basically the litmus test for whether or not someone understands that good players don't lose teams games because they aren't good enough.

You just dont get it lad.

You're arguing the case for if Everton are to finish 11th every season.

Why there is no point debating as im looking at Everton from the perspective of whats needed to seriously challenge the top 6.

The fact you claim Leicester were lucky this season shows your footballing knowledge isnt as vast as you think - they aint lucky they just have a clinical CF, a good midfield and decent defence/GK that fit the system completely.

It aint luck or rocket science its just a well balanced side.

Sticking a wide forward stone cold central isnt a balanced side.

Richarlison has been one of the ten best forwards in the league since Dunc and then Carlo moved him next to DCL in this 4-4-2 but because I want to keep that going I'm making an argument that we should be fine with 11th? Ok then.

But it means sod all - he could be the 10th best CF but means absolutely zilch if he could be in the top 5 best goal scoring wingers in the league playing in a more natural position that benefits the side.

You Americans would stick Milner up top if he scores 15 pens a season.

Except one of those things he is currently and the other one he might be but also was not when he was doing it before. I liked Richarlison out wide but he was not one of the ten best wingers in the league last season.

Even though he scored 14 goals from out wide last season

I think maybe 2 or 3 wide players (including Mane/Salah) scored more but ok
