I don't think we'll agree on this one mate. I don't believe Football works that way. If the player wanI'm not disputing that we were interested, but I don't think we were that interested. We could have had him at £70m, but weren't prepared to go any higher than £60m, which to me makes me think it was just posturing from the club to raise the profile of the club - "Look at us making massive bids for good players who the other top teams want too!". I don't believe we were ever seriously interested to get the deal done.

Also, if Zaha had stomped his feet enough, he would have got his move. Problem was, I just don't think he represented good value for us, Arsenal or any of the big European clubs at £60m, let alone £80m. There are better uses of money than Zaha, which is why in the end he knuckled down and stayed at Palace.

I somewhat agree with the point your making, however Zaha has contributed 20 goals and assists in an awful Palace team last season. That's in the same bracket as Eriksen and Sane and more than Son and Firmino. He's a cracking player, I just don't think he represents good value at £80m at his age, which is why it wouldn't surprise me if Richarlison went for the exact valuation you quoted there, £100m - assuming his trajectory continues.

Of course you need a buyer and a seller to make a deal. We are in agreement there. It's not just set a price and get it.

However you also have to look at who you are selling too, that gives some indication. Richarlinson is as good as any player his age or below in terms of scoring goals. Playing in a very ordinary team as well, compared to most of the sides at the top of the league. He is also able to offer a lot more besides goals and regularly tops charts of tackles, presses, sprints, intercepts of forward players. He would fit at a lot of teams.

Zaha in his best season ever, has a comparable return to Son or Eriksen, who nobody would pay 100 million for, given their age. Richarlinson already scores more goals than those players and is 5/6/7 years younger.

If he continues to improve and gets towards 20 league goals over the next year or 2, people will pay huge money for him.

Fair enough, but I think the potential of Richarlison is huge and the selling price would be set accordingly. The only player Brands has sold that we reLly wanted to keep was Gueye. We played hardball and got the offer we wanted.
Yes I’m also hoping that Charlie’s potential materialises .

Some exaggerated biased garbage as usual here,

Richarlison still has potential to improve but any champions league class side will be very worried about the spells he has when he has almost nil impact on games,

We paid 45mill I would say he is probably worth a bit more now and maybe worth a champions league class fee (60+) if he shows consistency this year.

Its similar to Lukaka. His stats looked great but we all knew he probably couldnt cut it at top champions league level and we got lucky to get over the odds for him.

Most obvious RS Troll going.

Still we made 3 times what we paid for Lukaku after he was a success here so if Richarlison is in a similar position 60m is comical.

But I still don't know why we are discussing this. We should do as much as we can to keep him if someone did bid.

Richarlison is boss. Yes he has his off games and his petulance can be frustrating but he is of genuine high quality.

I remember Evertonians slagging off our best striker in 30 years because he didn’t “run enough” and was “lazy”.

Enjoy Richarlison whilst he’s here and let’s hope he helps us win a trophy!

Still keeping up with this ‘we’ pretence then?
