That's fine. He's 22 and does have a lot to work on.

But because he's 22, and got a proven track record in the Prem, and he's got so much potential, and he's already a Brazil starter, and he's got pace, and bags of skill and an eye for goal, and because of the fee we paid, and because of his contract situation...

£80m. Starting. And I doubt we'd sell at that.

It's irrelevant anyway. Nobody will pay what we want and Richarlison won't agitate to go and we won't need to sell any time soon.

Just because his team mates are winning trophies it doesn't mean he should, you should ask what were most of his teammates doing at 22 years of age, I bet the majority wasn't winning trophies ( neymar aside as he is a superstar )

Palace wanted £80m for Zaha and no club was prepared to pay it, that's important to remember. And Zaha was widely considered the best player outside the top six over the last couple of seasons, or at the very least one of the best.

Now obviously Richarlison is younger than Zaha and he's got a higher ceiling so it's natural that we'd set our valuation much higher than £80m, perhaps £120m, but in the end I reckon he'll go for around £100m, assuming he leaves in the next 2 summers.

In any case, he won't go for whatever we think he's worth. That's simply not true. We can set whatever valuation we want of course, that doesn't mean that any team will pay it. We can set his valuation at £200m if we want because he's priceless to us but if Richarlison wants to go and Barcelona, Madrid, Juve, PSG, Bayern or any of the top 4 in the Prem are in his ear - the price will come down, it always does.

They will be offering a lot less than he is worth and we won’t sell. He will end up at a very top draw CL club. There are only a handful and they will have to pay up.

Which is you pay what the selling club wants or the player has to kick up a huge fuss. And even then (Zaha, Neymar) it's not always enough.

While Silva is here, Richarlison will be happy to develop.

He's 22. There's no rush.

If he performs as well as he can do, we could well finish in the CL.

Yeah, look if he smashes it this season and Kean hits the ground running and Iwobi and Mina find that consistency then of course we could raid the top 4 and this all becomes a very different conversation.

But you can't say there's no rush unless you know the players ambitions. Now I don't know them either, but players with Richarlison's ability, when surrounded with top class players telling him to come and join them while he is with the Brazil squad, agents and big European clubs in his ear telling him they can make the move happen, will eventually start to agitate.

It's a positive and a negative for us, because if he smashes it this season and clears 20 goals as I fully expect him to, he'll have all eyes on him and those whispers will intensify, we'll then be in for a very difficult summer next year, it's just a question of whether we can hang on to him for long enough that he can drag the club up to where he aspires to be - in the Champions League.

He's said before how much he admires Silva. The reason he left Watford for us was because of him.

I'm sure if Silva sat down and said 'give us another year', then he'd definitely be open to it.

There's just no need for doom and gloom. He's on a big contract, we can match whatever wages anyone will pay him bar the very top clubs in Europe. There's no sign he isn't absolutely happy here right now.

Richy has 4 years left to run. He looks like a moody git anyways so I don’t see how that translates to poor attitude. From all reports he’s a top class lad and really admires Silva not a single thing in the paper about him kicking a fuss.

That's really not how negotiations work in any walk of life.

Palace set Zaha's price high and no club was prepared to go near it. In fact, the only clubs that were interested enough to make serious offers were us and Arsenal. Arsenal offered around half the figure Palace wanted and we offered around £60m IIRC. In neither case, Zaha was able to get Palace to adjust their valuation. Part of that, in my opinion, is because we weren't THAT interested and I don't think Arsenal were either (having already lined up Pepe who, again, is younger and has a higher ceiling than Zaha, for the same price).

We can set our valuation at £500m if we want, it doesn't really matter. Once a player decides they want out and starts making public statements to the press saying as much, and you have elite clubs who REALLY want them, the move happens almost 100% of the time. If the selling club doesn't want the player to leave, it becomes a case of not wanting to keep an unhappy, potentially disruptive player who will naturally not deliver their best Football while unsettled.

In all fairness mate, Zaha just doesn't produce the numbers to get a big bid from a top team. Richarlinson got 13 in the league last season, is about 6 years younger than Zaha and if he continues to improve and score say 15+ goals it's only a matter of time until the top clubs start to take notice of him. His age is very important as well.

I think someone will pay £100million if his trajectory continues.

Whatever bid we accepted for him would be what we value him at. Obviously. What we SAY we value him at, and what we actually value him at will be different, it always is. But the poster is quite right that a team would need to meet our actual valuation in order for him to go.
