I'm an atheist so broadly speaking agree with Dawkins, but he does come across as a bit of a prat with some of the things he says, or the way he says them anyway. He sounds just as extremist as some of the religious fanatics out there. What people do with their own lives is up to them. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone else then who cares?

Whereas I don't have any sympathy for THIS pope , I did for the last one John Paul II.

However, I wish that the church would have shown as great a vigour in finding paedophiles in their midst, as they did in the Spanish Inquisition and the burning of heretics.

Frankly the opposition the Vatican's putting up is only making matters worse. I never felt this Pope should have been elected personally.

The thing about Dawkins and his outrider, Christopher Hitchens, is that they're basically getting money for old rope: restating the facts over and over again that religion is a con...to their largely secular audience. The phrase "pushing at an open door" was made for those two.

And is there anything less edifying than an academic turned media whore like Dawkins? A gob_shite of the first order. I hope he tries to arrest Ratzinger and the Swiss Guard pull him one side and web the cnut all over the shop.,
