Ric Wee to Return to Goodison

Saturday 3 May will see Everton fan Ric Wee have his dreams realised of finally watching his beloved Blues play live football thanks to the Club’s international betting partner DAFABET.

DAFABET have teamed up with Everton to invite Wee to Goodison Park as their guest of honour for the game against Manchester City, where he will be joined by some of his fellow Malaysian Toffees who are also making the journey over from Asia.

Upon his return to Merseyside, Wee and his friends will also be spending time finding out more about Everton in the Community and will be visiting local projects in the area to see the diversity and outreach of the work that the Club’s official charity delivers on a daily basis.

Wee became a social media sensation back in February when he made the 7,000 mile trip to Goodison from Malaysia to watch his team live in action for the first time only for the game against Crystal Palace to be postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Cue a rollercoaster 24hours for the Malaysian Blue when a photograph he put out on Twitter prior to kick-off was retweeted over 7,000 times.

Wee and his family were located in the stadium following the postponement announcement and met with their Everton heroes including Roberto Martinez, Leighton Baines and Kevin Mirallas.

The following day saw local and national media descend on Goodison Park to hear from the man about why he would be returning to Malaysia a mini-celebrity before he was given a guided tour around the ground by none other than Blues legend Graeme Sharp.

Speaking ahead of his visit Ric Wee said: “I have been so humbled by everyone’s kindness since that day back in February and I can’t wait to make the journey back to Goodison Park this weekend and to share the experience with some of my friends.

“All of us in the Malaysian Toffees have heard about the great work that Everton in the Community do but it will be fantastic to see it carried out first-hand and spread the word they do when we return home.”

Head of Marketing Operations at DAFABET, John Cruces, said: “Ric’s failed plight to watch Everton play live for the first time in 30 years captured everyone’s hearts, including ours at DAFABET, and we really wanted to help his dreams come true and so have invited him to join us at Goodison on Saturday for what will hopefully be another unforgettable day."

Everton announced a partnership with DAFABET as the Club’s international betting and gaming partner back in 2012.
