Actually forgot all about Antolin Alcaraz.

Kone good enough?????
It would be worth itHow much would paying off his contract eat into our transfer fund?

I would sell him for whatever I could getHe's got about 12 months left on his contract and let's say for arguments sake he's on 40k a week. That's about £2 million. I'd rather have that to spend this summer and leave Kone on the bench tbh.

Praise the Lord. That'll be about £90k off the wages each week.
If his knees have gone claim on the insurance or give him a free transfer! or use him in a swap deal for a better back up striker! How much would paying off his contract eat into our transfer fund?
2 down..around a dozen to go now...

Erm, he was absolute rubbish...made Carl Tiler and Craig Short look like Beckenbauer. If he kept him here, Martinez would have been driven out over the Summer by us all!Of all the names I am pleased Alcaraz was one. I happen to agree with Martinez that some people are overly harsh on him due to him playing for Wigan. I would stop short at saying it was a conspiracy though!
But Alcaraz was a bit of a litmus test for me. He is ageing and past it. The cautious thing to do would have been to keep him here, stopping the progression of younger players. It has shown a stealy resolve to get rid of him and indicates to me Martinez won't be as willing to keep older players "favourites" as Moyes was which has to be a positive thing.
you know, besides the 2nd worst keeper in the Europe...It has shown a stealy resolve to get rid of him and indicates to me Martinez won't be as willing to keep older players "favourites" as Moyes was which has to be a positive thing.
I agree mate. He brought him here on a free and Martinez would obviously have felt a responsibility toward him given old associations. I wouldn't call it ruthless, but I'd say he's been strong there in casting him one side the moment his contract ran out.Of all the names I am pleased Alcaraz was one.
