Praise the Lord. That'll be about £90k off the wages each week.

Of all the names I am pleased Alcaraz was one. I happen to agree with Martinez that some people are overly harsh on him due to him playing for Wigan. I would stop short at saying it was a conspiracy though!
But Alcaraz was a bit of a litmus test for me. He is ageing and past it. The cautious thing to do would have been to keep him here, stopping the progression of younger players. It has shown a stealy resolve to get rid of him and indicates to me Martinez won't be as willing to keep older players "favourites" as Moyes was which has to be a positive thing.

Erm, he was absolute rubbish...made Carl Tiler and Craig Short look like Beckenbauer. If he kept him here, Martinez would have been driven out over the Summer by us all!

I agree mate. He brought him here on a free and Martinez would obviously have felt a responsibility toward him given old associations. I wouldn't call it ruthless, but I'd say he's been strong there in casting him one side the moment his contract ran out.

I'll just pick myself up off the floor then
