Reputation System - Disabled

Hi All,

With regret, I've disabled the reputation system.

Unfortunately, despite best efforts to minimise potential abuse (Negative Rep prompting a moderator alert) - we have had a handful of absolute idiots abusing the system. Those idiots will shortly find themselves permanently banned for being malicious, misrepresenting our community and wasting our time.

The reputation system will be revamped and back shortly.

PS I suspect that by constantly carping about the neg rep you become a target for the wind up merchants on here. I appreciate you may find it frustrating, but you play right into the hands of your tormenters. I'm not saying it is right, but just be a bit cuter, yeah?

I think the simple like or no like is going to be the only way to go if you don't want something that is open to abuse, it's not my preference but I can't see what else can work? Anyone that I ever negged must have wondered what I was up to as I would leave a comment suggesting I did not agree, but forget to tick the neg box, so they got a pos rep and a negative comment.

Would it not be worth re-instating the system in it's old format, with it's temporary disablement acting as a severe warning to anyone misusing it, and the proviso being that anyone using it for anything other than it's intended purpose is suspended or banned?

I don't know the inner workings of how much work is created for the mods, more than I suspect we all realise, but just trying to offer some sensible suggestions. (for once)

I think the Mods would need to set out clear guidelines as to the 'original purpose'. Reading through the thread, there seem to be differing interpretations of what the rep system is for.

It is, of course, solely for winding up Stend. And this needs to be made clear. *note: I am joking Stend. JOKING*
