Can't make my mind up on this one. I was going on about him at the end of last season and got laughed at once or twice but he was immense at West Ham a few years ago. Yes, he was abysmal at Villa and he hardly set the world alight at Bolton but he has ability.

Let's take Charlie Adam, I don't believe he is good enough for our first eleven but would command the wages of a regular starter and up to £5million in terms of a transfer fee. Adam is not - on the evidence of his spell across the park - that much further ahead of Reo Coker to warrant the money involved.

In Short I'd sign him as cover.

I'd rather offer Owen Hargreaves £10k p/w, see if he's still got any skills.

If the choice is Adam, Reo-Coker or Hargreaves then I'd take Hargreaves too. Genuinely sad to see a career so badly disrupted by injury, because when fit he was a world-class player.
