"Remember when..."

Remember when all the fans were asked to vote on moving to a new stadium, on the last day of the season in 1996? They had visuals of it in a handout given to all the fans there and it was in the fanzine, "The Evertonian"

I wouldn't swap with a Newcastle or Sunderland fan to name just two. In fact, if I'm ever unfortunate enough to be kidnapped and tortured I really hope I suffer dull mediocrity with a dose of annoyance.
I've wondered about this before. I definitely don't want us to get relegated don't get me wrong, but I don't actually know what's worse, our situation or theirs (overall I mean, not right now). Sunderland have had some terrible lows, but some real highs too. Winning the championship, getting promoted in the play offs etc. Didn't they have 7/8 consecutive derby wins too? As an Everton fan in my mid 30s I've literally had 3/4 proper joyful days as a fan in all my time going. No trophies, 1 win away at a 'big' team, no derby wins away for 21 years, none at all for 10. I know it's being in league one but honestly the sheer monotony of our rubbishness takes some beating.

Thats brilliant mate
he was young it happened so fast not sure he was ready for the level he was gonna be playing at , however even 18 months at everton is enough for him to learn and he must of cuz he had lots of success after and some good clubs fans loved him etc , now its no surprise to me that a messy everton career turned him into a better player than he would of been , so for that hes happy , he loved the fans , more in the pubs than the stadium , he had a good laugh with the fans in all the pubs n clubs

lol

its a great club , ive been up to liverpool last 6 months , went goodison , had a pic with dixie and all that , had a tot with some everton fans , good wk end ,the old man brush it off in 5 mins worry about it later , when you have mick marking you in training for 18 months and then suddenly your playing against div 3 defenders , you should be skinning them for breakfast really

I can't argue about monotony. That's the main reason for being frustrated with it. Even hope has left me now. However, I wouldn't swap that for relegation even if I knew we'd win the championship title a year or two later.
