What is truly frightening is that the lads really seemed to give their all against Burnley. You could see how devastated they were at the final whistle. And I can’t really blame Frank: he didn’t really get his tactics wrong.

Our heads go down when we’re playing away. That’s the bottom line. Carragher said last week that our players are psychologically weak and that they need to have the backing of the crowd to play well. That makes sense because we do play well at home under Frank and we’re dire away from home. We won our last home match and even when we’ve lost home matches under Frank we’ve given a good account of ourselves. When we lost to the champions last month we deserved a point and in fact we were robbed of a point.

I was reading earlier that between late September and late January we attained just 6 points. 6 points in four months! That’s when the damage was done, particularly in terms of the psychological deterioration of our players.

Let’s hope for a bear pit atmosphere on Saturday at Goodison against the Mancs. Win that and one or two others between now and the end of the season and we’ll likely stay up.
Great post.

We’ve all got to get right behind the players on Saturday. The recriminations can wait until the summer. After we’ve stayed. After we’ve avoided catastrophe and financial ruin.

Kenwright, Moshiri, Walsh, Koeman, numerous managers, all to varying degrees part of the reason we’re in this mess. Factor in the most cowardly squad in the history of professional sport and it looks like we’re done for. The 27 campaign and our dirtball neighbours love using the 95 cup win to showcase how long we’ve been [Poor language removed] but i personally believe we started to drift around 89/90. The likes of Carter going all in to get the Prem up and running then cheering on the clubs that showed ambition with brand growth and stadium upgrades, all the while happy to just coast along enjoying lofty titles within our club. The teary eyed gushing praise people throw at the Moyes era just backs that up. Almost dancing in the streets celebrating mediocrity and hoof-ball. Tragic demise of a truly great institution with the greatest supporters on the planet. I’m heartbroken but not shocked

This post here is probably the best post in this thread.

For anyone 40 years old and above this is exactly how we all are feeling.

I'm approaching 46. I don't expect to see us in the top flight again in my lifetime. It's not just a poor quality team but the whole club is riddled with problems from top to bottom. Any normal business run like ours would have folded.
This is a dark fantasy.

in reality we will be in our in our iconic stadium in 3 years, and things will have turned round.
No wonder the players are struggling when we have such defeatism.

Frigging hell I thought I was a misery arse.
Come on mate get a grip.
"Normal" is not a word associated with running a football club. We might have to bump along the bottom for a while but we'll survive.

I don't think that I create defeatism in the players but they certainly created it in me.

Iconic stadium? We can barely cover the wage bill. The fans favourite "Uncle Uzzy" can't fund us or his mate Moshiri. If it only took 6 years to kill the club I'll be mightily impressed if he can fix it in 3.

I’m coming around the idea of relegation. The thing is if we survive, I expect another relegation scrap next year with all these so called players. Realistically it is impossible to have a totally refreshed team by the turn of next season. So a reset in championship is not a bad thing and we could return and perform similar to the likes of Leicester, Wolves etc in couple of seasons if we can get our house in order. We dont have to go into every weekend with the fear surrounding us. We will have better pull to attract players than most in the championship.

Oh I definitely think we'll survive - I agree that football is not a normal business. But we're an utter mess and bumping along bottom is not a good place to be

People I feel sorry for is the staff at the club that will be impacted by relegation through no fault of their own.
Ground staff, caterers, administration etc.

[Poor language removed] the players and board room.
Hopefully the ground staff pour dogshit all over their desks.
They will be first to loose their jobs as positions are axed. Way before player or management are moved on to other lucrative earnings. Also Everton community work will be reassessed which no doubt means less of it...

Don't have much left for this squad apart from sneering contempt for the large majority. Which is not healthy and why all things Everton is dropping off my radar.
