Ancelotti shoulders a share of the blame.
You can't blame him for going to Madrid, but he left us right in it

….there are reasons we were a mess of a club. There are reasons we were a joke of a club, but there is only one reason we became a relegation club - Benitez.

Its not only that he was a dreadful coach, he brought division and toxicity in all areas of the club. If there’s turmoil, conflict & discontent off the pitch it will manifest on the pitch. The Perfect Storm was building and has come to fruition.

LOL I remember Carlo playing 451, but 4 centre backs, then coleman and digne wide left and right, mostly because he saw we were leaving too many gaps.

Exactly. People complained that he was too pragmatic and defensive but the feller is one of the best coaches in world football and quickly realised "these can't defend and need help".

Step in Raffa and Lampard who feel just having 2 players in midfield would be fine. Wonder who was correct?

The players are showing some fight and spirit under Lampard, under Benitez the players spirit was crushed.

Compare yesterdays derby performance under Lampard, to last Decembers under Benitez.
I dont know where you see the spirit. Parking the bus and not playing footbal? LOL. Benitez would have been murdered for it. 12 games. Lost 8 times. Thats on par with Watford and Norwich!

We've spent £561.88m in the last six years.

Even when you take the net figure rather than gross that spending is nothing. We tried to close a cavernous gap on the top 6 and messed up with recruitment, fair enough, but even if we hadn’t it wouldn’t have made any difference to the blatant match fixing corruption occurring on a weekly basis in this league

It was weird actually - I was ready to go tit for tat and high scoring games like that Brighton game last season where we won 4-2, but then we went pragmatic and conservative. Stopped scoring after that.

Rafael saw the same thing but he decided to bring in his own, 'worse' players and totally changed the style.

Lampard seems like he's finding out the hard way. lol

We became a relegation club when we failed to have a transfer budget last summer. Benitez was a symptom not a cause.

Benitez is a rat mate , defending him ffs. We are showing more fight than under that tool

Exactly.

Since when has £50mil a season in the premier league been a lot of money when starting off with an ageing team which in the main had very low valuations.

The Waiter seemed to concede possession and go on the counter. But having just the 2 midifielders and then 4 attackers left the defence exposed which Carlo knew about and we'd concede goals like a siv.

Lamps wanted us to keep the ball more but still had the same set up. He's soon realising 3 in midfield is the way to go.

Funnily enough Rafas and Lamps seem to have more faith in these players than Carlo ever did IMO.
