Relegation Thread 25-26

West Ham have two winnable home games coming up back to back. If they can get 4 or 6 points they will catch up with the chasing pack. If they don't get at least 1 win, you'd think they are in huge trouble
They then have Wolves away and Forest at home in the two games following that. If they do badly in those games, the bottom 3 could be well adrift.

West Ham have given themselves a real uphill task. I’m surprised at how bad they’ve been under Nuno. Leeds won’t lose many home games, they’re in a great position to stay up now and I can’t see anyone else from that pack getting dragged in.

Post Moyes, West Ham have just seemed to get worse season on season.

Managerial appointments haven`t worked out and a lot of big money signings don`t seem to have worked out either.

They just don`t seem to be able to get themselves out of the doom loop they`re in.

It`s also a very good job that Bowen has stayed so loyal or hasn`t had a big injury too, as without him they`d be sunk.

Strange side west ham, was watching Scamacca who was a just less than 1 in 2 striker for his perm clubs, but never got going. They paid good money and he was early 20's. It could have been culture shock, or the weather I suppose. Hasn't ripped up the game for Italy though, but still gets caps. Maybe the chop change of managers has meant no blend amongst the respective squads. There's much to be said for stability and unity.

They just seem to have a lot of problems to me, very little home advantage etc. Too many managers with contrasting styles.

Their worry is, under Nunos alleged New manager bounce, they've won 2 games in like 12 or whatever.

They do have some winnable games coming up, but I'm honestly not sure I back them to beat Fulham, or Forest.

coventry boro and ipswich seem to be the best the championship has to offer, obviously there is a play offs to negotiate. Not sure there's enough quality in any to trouble much of the PL at the minute. The jump and recruitment luck is so massive it seems Sunderland are the exception to the norm.

Those 3 just go straight back down. Or Leeds will go down.

He didn't do very well with us in the PL did he?

He didn`t, but he was trying to pick up a team that had been destroyed by Benitez, with a fan base on the point of mutiny.

He`s got Coventry flying, the fans love him and whilst I appreciate that the step up from the Championship to the Prem is enormous, he`ll use the experience of his time with both us and his caretaker stint at Chelsea, to create a team that has a fighting chance of staying up.

I just don't see it mate. I see Kompany MK2 myself.

I try to watch a bit of the championship , it's a completely different game to our usual fare, tackles, handball, offsides are completely random, the number of goal scoring chances that go begging
Unless these teams spend a lot and spend well, then it will be a season long struggle, if the likes of Keifer Moore, Patrick Bamford, Ellis Simms etc are tearing the league up it shows the difference in levels

Obviously, in recent years we’ve been forced to have an interest in the relegation battle, but I just find it so much more infinitely interesting than the title race and top 4. You kinda just know before the season even starts who’s going to be there and watching city, Chelsea and Arsenal play is just so dull and repetitive to me, they just score and it’s like borrringggg. There’s also so much more on the line at the bottom as well due to the the money being played for, plus far more unpredictability with runs of form etc.

Agree with this. Also, it's entirely possible for a manager to improve and it seems to me that Lampard went away and spent time learning his craft. Genuinely amazing how he's taken Coventry from an anaemic lower mid table team to utterly dominant in 12 months - and let's be honest, if his name wasn't Frank Lampard there'd already be Evertonians ruminating about getting him in after Moyes.
