Beat Brighton and we will likely be 10 clear with 8 to play, so safe, even a draw likely 8 clear.

Palace play Chelsea and Stoke play City

3 games ago...Everton 3 - 1 Crystal Palace.

11th: Everton: 34 points
18th: Crystal Palace: 27 points

If only we were as good as Crystal Palace.

Yes, we are above them in the league but I know who I would rather pay money to watch. It ain't us at the moment.

Palace showed all of the qualities last night that we are missing - organisation, belief, commitment, togetherness and no shortage of skill.

They just bottled a 2 goal lead at home in half an hour in an enormous game.

We'll be safe - I can't see 8 of the bottom 10 teams overtaking us. Another win and a draw we'll be OK. I can't believe I'm typing this though - how the hope has fallen!!!

You said 'to be brutally honest, they are a better team than us at the moment.' The quite clearly aren't. We beat them less than a month ago and are 7 points clear of them.

Palace are a poor side just like ourselves but I know which position i'd rather be in this season and long term with the resources and players available to us compared to what they have.

They most certainly did not 'bottle it' as you say. Even at 2-2 they were still just as likely to score a winner as Man U. And they did this with 10 first team players unavailable. I watched the game from start to finish and, if you didn't know before kick off, you would not have been able to identify which team was second and which was 18th.

Will Palace catch us? Almost certainly not as they have left themselves too much to do. But, and it's a big but, they are a better team than us, are better organised than us, are better to watch than us and are coached by someone who knows what he is doing and who obviously has the respect of the players and fans.

We will be safe this year but it is no cause for celebration when a much better team than us is likely to get relegated.

They absolutely bottled it. They were winning comfortably. Then the lad Tomkins was guilty of one of the worst pieces of defending ever seen in humanity. And the game immediately changed.

Yes, we are above them. Yes, we probably do have more resources and yes, we are (somehow) 7 points above them. My point is that we don't deserve to be. Palace are, if you compare our last 2 games (abject defeats at Watford and Burnley) with Palace's last 2 games (gallant and narrow/late defeats to Spurs and Man U) a much better team, who make much more of their smaller resources, fight for each other and believe in the manager. How much of that is true for us?

Palace have an excuse for being near the bottom, we have no excuse for the debacle that this season has turned into.

The first step on the way to fixing a problem is to admit that you have one. Everton have major problems to address.

Game of opinions isn't it. I think you are confusing and combining one piece pf poor marking with losing their bottle. At 2-1 they certainly didn't bottle it. They kept to the game plan, shrugged off the disappointment of losing a goal (like Man U did when they were too slow to set up against the quick free kick for Palace's second) and kept playing.

Palace didn't bottle anything. They were just desperately unlucky.

Be honest, if we played Palace tomorrow at a neutral ground, who do you think would win and who do you think would play the better football?

Palace for me on both counts. And it hurts to admit it.

If I were a Palace fan, or if that had been Everton, I'd be livid at the defenders. They dropped way too deep and made numerous mistakes. They stopped doing the things that had got them a 2 nil lead.
