I don’t think they were baseless rumours then or now.

It all comes down to league performance - as it always does.

Underperformance will inevitably spell the end. 5-0 against Fulham certainly isn’t going to help.

They were baseless mate - reports were he was about to be sacked, he then got a new contract.

It all comes down to what the owner thinks, and I think they'd take 17th this season.

Like us, they should be relieved this season has Luton, Sheff Utd and Burnley.

I think they go down next season, said it for ages - theyd need to sell Johnson (and have), Gibbs-White is next and the third season/needing to recover funds will kill them.

Because it didn’t happen doesn’t mean it wasn’t considered.

I’m not saying he won’t change his mind again, but the Forest fans seem to think this could be the end.

I think there are a lot of managers whose jobs will be saved because they’re in the same division as Luton, Burnley and Sheffield.

I don’t think Cooper will be one of them however. They’ve spent too much money to be this bad.

You wouldn't offer someone a new contract if you was just about to sack them. You might change your mind on sacking, by not sacking - but you wouldnt offer a new deal.

To give him a new contract when sat at the bottom of the table, to then sack him when you're 6 points above the drop?

Hope they do sack him because they'll be worse off for it. Their owner got off early which isn't a good sign.

Not so sure given the iffy run of games we have until the new year unfortunately.
The other 3 in the mix have tricky fixtures as well between now and new year.
Luton; City (h), Bournemouth (a), Newcastle (h), Sheff Utd (a), Chelsea (h)
Burnley; Brighton (a), Us (h), Fulham (a), Liverpool (h), Villa (a)
Sheff U; Brentford (h), Chelsea (a), Villa (a), Luton (h), City (a)

Can’t see any of them picking up many points from their respective run of fixtures.

The new contract seemed weird at the time, and I’m not going to try to rationalise the decision making of a maverick owner

He clearly wanted to express support having decided to stick, and he did so in a fairly ostentatious manner.

As I say, I’m not able to put myself in Marinakis’ brain - but I see no reason to disbelieve the rumours that Cooper is in trouble.

Palace are still 7 points clear, they won't panicking just yet.

Think Cooper will be given a few more weeks tbh. Forest just need a win from somewhere and they're back in calm waters.
