Other than the eventual outcome I have one great regret over last nights game, that it is the chance for all you kids to have had something to nail your support on, a truly great game. It was a far better effort than we put in against Chelsea in the CC cup, it was a superb display but we lost which takes the edge off everything.

Having seen all the great ones since the war I can assure you all that this side is on the verge of greatness having climbed out of the gutter of years of despair. We will get those honours, the blue touch paper is lit make no mistake and I sincerely hope you all experience the exuberance, the elation, the adrenalin high that comes with new success. Supporters of the clubs above us in the league become bored with success that they fail to appreciate their teams, never fall into that trap or you'll end up as bad as they are. Success is something to relish and like me you will cherish those moments to your dying day. It is coming, make no mistake about that, its coming and its not far away now(y)

I don't count it as a loss, because we won the game and smashed them all over the park. We definatley won the game, but we are out of the cup on a gay technicality.

It still would have been great for the kids, like yourself Dylan:P

Main thing is that its all part of a learning curve in Europe and we are back for more asap. Despite the pens though, it was a great match and a brilliant atmosphere

I'm proud of the lads and their achievements - the boss too, the boys are learning how to play against european opposition, ok not the top flight euro teams but euro teams nonetheless. It means keeping hold of ball and making possesion count, slowly but surely the lads are getting the message, this is also becoming apparent in our league form, we can still lump it forwards with the best of 'em, but some of the 1/2 touch interplay wouldnt look out of place at old trafford. We are 7 points clear in fifth spot and all to play for in the league. Euro football of some description next season is a real possibility

Well done lads, now pick yours chins up and lets carry on our superb form of 2008.

During Moyes interview prematch yesterday, one thing struck me really how young he is still in his early forties, its something all to easy to forget. I began to think of all the managers he will surpass in his time (hopefully with us) the Fergusons, Wengers etc.

I know Monty is speaking about over hauling these clubs in the coming seasons, but i think an important point is that Moyes is 25 years younger then them. When both leave their respective clubs its possible to argue that their teams and clubs will be in transition and adjustment and as such a vacum will be created for Moyes and the contiunity we have buiilt up at Everton to take affect and advantage. Thats not to say that we wont be challenging before that but i think its important to note not oly the young squad but also our manager, who already is one of the best!

Christ knows what will happen at chelsea!

The future is bright!

Moyes could etch his name in Everton lore if he really wanted to.

I believe he really has that potential to be a long serving manager of the club.

This game was one of the greatest I have ever seen in my life regardless of us losing on penalties.

Thank you Everton

Well said. Totally agree.
Steady but surely, we're improving and "Getting there"

Monty, I understand what you're saying. To us oldies the progress under Moyes is really a case of normal service being resumed after a 20 year absence. Way overdue, but all the more enjoyable for that. 2 days later I still have such mixed feelings about Wednesday's game. It was in many ways the best Everton display since the eighties - but in fairness the team of the mid-eigthies would have found a way to win.

We are close, very close, but we need that something extra to win these games, and the ones against ManUre that we lose by a goal.
