We would have to sell before we could buy. I'd like to see Deulofeu returning on loan in January. Now that would be nice.
Give it a rest with your creative accounting mate. It's not simply the case that United gave us £27m in a one off lump sum, nor is it true that we haven't spent anything between selling Felli and buying Lukaku. And we had to pay some of the fee direct to Standard as part of the sell-on clause, so we didn't get a full £27m for him anyway. Call it £25m?Can I ask why you think this is the case? Lukaku cost the same amount of money that we received from selling Fellaini, we also sold Jelavic and Anichebe for about 14 million combined, and we will also be receiving approximately an extra 90 million or so over three years as a result of the new TV deal.
I think the club have got one eye on the possibility of building a new stadium, but other than accounting for the associated costs of building a new stadium, I don't see why we should have to sell to buy so early on after receiving the increases from the new TV deal.

Surprised that you have forgotten about McCarthy (for instance) whom we purchased the same day we sold Felli. That's £13m of Felli's transfer fee gone already, unless you choose to believe the claim that we didn't have to sell to buy at that point - and if you believe that then there's no point you reading the rest of this post - We also dropped £5m-ish on Kone and paid a hefty loan fee for Lukaku last year: Call that £20m spent, leaving £5m? Need I go on?
Why don't you log onto transfermarkt and remind yourself of all the other players we've signed since then: Besic for instance? McGeady? My point is that every penny of the Felli, Jelavic and Cheebs sales (around £40m in total) may well have already been spent... Lukaku, McCarthy, Kone and Besic cost roughly £50m combined.
Just because the income stream from TV has increased substantially does not mean we should suddenly go out and emulate Richard Pryor in "Brewster's Millions" - we still have to live within our means. Given that we almost doubled our record transfer fee just two months ago I would doubt there's much wriggle room left in the cashflow right now. By the simple maths above, I think we've already spent £10m of last season's TV money that you believe is lying around untouched.
