Everton will be without Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo for Saturday's trip to the Madejski Stadium to play Steve Coppell's Reading.

The groin strain picked up in the early stages of the 3-1 victory at White Hart Lane has forced the player to withdraw from the Nigeria squad as well as sit out tomorrows encounter as the Toffees look to extend their excellent start to the new Premier League campaign.

Leighton Baines has failed to recover from an injury that he suffered prior to joining Everton, and will miss out again. Long-term casualty James Vaughan is also out again with his dislocated shoulder, as is Tim Cahill.

Andy van der Meyde - following his suspension - does not travel with the squad.

James McFadden, however, should be in contention - it remains to be seen whether imminent signing Manuel Fernandes will be unveiled in time to make the Everton teamsheet. Likely future signing Yakubu Aiyegbeni will certainly not be secured in time to make the game, despite being withdrawn from the Middlesbrough team to face Fulham.

EVERTON (from): Howard, Ruddy, Stubbs, Neville, Valente, Hibbert, Lescott, Boyle, McFadden, Jagielka, Pienaar, Anderson Silva, Osman, Vidarsson, Carsley, Arteta, Jutkiewicz, Anichebe, Johnson.

LIKELY ELEVEN: Howard, Hibbert, Stubbs, Lescott, Valente, Osman, Arteta, Carsley, Neville, Anichebe, Johnson.

yobo out is a massive knock back. he has been outstanding.

we might see jagielka drafted in, and might also see pienaar on for vic around 60 minutes.

If Anichebe gets as tired as he looked in the final third of the game against Tottenham, we have to sub him early in the second half. Don't know if Moyes'll sub him for Pienaar or McFadden though. Guess it depends on the scoresheet at that moment.

Good call that, he will need replacing as I sure stamina is an issue with the lad. Reading also have huge injury problems so it will be down to squad strength, pity the match itsn't nexst weekend when more re-inforcements have arrivedlol lol Joelon to the middle and Valente at lb;)

It's a blow losing Yobo and I would like to see a young centre half signed before the window closes as I'm not sure we can rely on Stubbs to play a whole season and only have three recognised centre backs at the moment.

everton team to start is:
Tim Howard, Phil Neville (c), Tony Hibbert, Joleon Lescott, Alan Stubbs, Jorge Nuno Valente, Mikel Arteta, Lee Carsley, Leon Osman, Victor Anichebe, Andrew Johnson.

Howard

Hibbert - Stubbs - Lescott - Valente

Arteta - Neville - Carsley - Osman

AJ - Anichebe

No real changes, very good line up.
