Howard - 7. He can save pens apparently!

Hibbo - 6. Had a good game, apart from a dodgy 5-10 min spell when his head went a bit

Baines - 2. A 2 because he scored a priceless pen in the shoot-out, otherwise it would be lower. A shocking performance

Jag & Lescott - 8. Both were solid all game and Jag scored the decisive pen.

Neville - 3. Similar to Baines, a truly awful performance with only his pen a positive

Pienaar - 8. My MotM, the only player willing to take the game to United

Cahill - 7. Started the game slowly but came in to it late on. (Please dont take another pen!)

Ossie - 6. Started brightly but faded

Fellaini - 6. Carried on going despite nothing going for him

Saha - 3. Shocking
 

Howard - 8. A mix up with Jags could have cost us the game, but apart from that was solid and saved 2 penalties

Hibbo - 7. Solid

Baines - 8. Overlapped well, crossing was poor tho apart from an excellent cut back to Vaughan who should have scored. Scored a penalty

Jag 8. - One bad mistake which should have been a penalty. However was solid apart from this... highlights were his bicycle kick clearance and of course his immense balls to step up and score the decisive pen.

Lescott 10. Solid through out... I thought he was immense today!

Neville - 9. Kept it simple, rarely gave the ball away, motivated the team on the pitch... despite me almost crying when I saw he was going to be one of our penalty takers he confidently slottedit away. A true captains performance.

Pienaar - 8. Worked tirelessly all game, tried to make things happen and was 100% commited.

Cahill - 8. Work really hard for the team, tried to make things happen... one excellent shot palmed away by Foster. Missed the pen but I thought he showed great drive and energy during the game.

Ossie - 8. He could barley stand by the end but ran and ran. Didn't create enough but put in a great shift for the team.

Fellaini - 7. Worked hard, passed it well, got a deserved booking.

Saha - 5. Didn't play well, held up the ball for too long and failed to pick out the easy pass. However was unlucky when closing down Foster.

Subs:

Rodwell - 8. Passed it simple, showed good composure beyond his years. helped shore things up when United were getting on top.

Vaughan - 8. Missed a great chance but confidently stepped up and scored a penalty... showed great guts to do that! Weird penalty technique... I thought he'd stumbled at 1st!


Special mention for the other team:

Tevez - 10. If there's one player i'd love at our club its this man. He's a great player... he doesn't get noticed so much playing alongside Rooney and ronaldo, but when he's the main man in a team he shines. If we get a rich owner one day i'd love us to sign this man! Everything good for them came from him today and he was a constant danger dropping deep and running at people.

To be fair I agree with you. Its wasnt a shocking performance but it was a poor one against a very, very weak United side.

We backed off too much, we gave them room, we looked scared of them even though they were all younglings. It was a case of not wanting to lose rather than wanting to win. The occasion got to the players in the 1st half.

2nd half was an improvement with heavy spells of dominence with no really threat. Delivery into the box was very very poor.

Both sides were poor IMO but they had the excuse of being that they're young. They seemed freshier which was a given.

But like me dad said - its the result that mattered.
I do disagree with your ratings - I think Cahill disappeared untill he was pushed forward. Ossie looked knackered and minus a few sparks did nothing. Hibbert seems to have took a knock in confidence since Ashley Young tore him a new one.

And I'd also say Jags was below par. His concentration wondered and that was a peno he gave away IMO.

Vidic and Ferdinand were the best players on the park - they snuffed out anything and everything in the box.

Weird that. You have the exact blinkered and frankly tittish view of some players just like Halewood.
