Ratcliffe to replace Kendall as Echo Columist

The great thing about Kendall as a commentator on the club is that you had the feeling he wasn't trying to compare everybody and everything with the club as it was when he was there.
Everything was taken on it's own merits and when he did throw in an anecdote about things that happened in his time it made the story all the more enjoyable.
I think he was a man without a big ego.

I do think that Kevin Ratcliffe cannot help but remember back to the club during his "reign" and is comparing what happens now to what happened then....or what he remembers as what happened then.

I always found Howard Kendalls articles very insightful and I do hope that Kevin Ratcliffe can partially at least fill the void left by the great man.

Can't believe some of the comments on here about him being too negative.
Ever been on a match thread when we are 0-0 at half time against anyone.

But were fans/supporters/stalkers/sociopaths*, were allowed to sway from one polarized opinion to the other scaling the extremes of fandom.
He's a pundit, gets paid and is supposed to be neutral, but just comes across a bit bitter and negative.

On a side note, the only game I've heard him commentate on where I agreed with him is the Kiev fiasco

Tbf, even if 'Jag-E-L-ka' isn't how you pronounce his name, and it is 'Yag-E-L-Ka', its still not what Kev calls him which is 'JAR-JELKA'

Ratcliffe did my head in on TV years back when he commentated on us for Five in the UEFA Cup, however I went to a 'night with' him and Big Nev in Southport last year and found him really quite interesting and insightful.

Hardly look at The Echo these days anyway sadly, half their articles are adverts.
