Moyes was interested in bringing Beckham here, for certain reasons, so why not the next best thing, for other reasons? I wish he would go for Elm. And Messi and Hulk. Lol

David Moyes is said to be eyeing up a bid for Swedish international, Rasmus Elm . The Swede who plays for AZ Alkmaar would be available for a relatively cheap fee of £4m and with the Everton manager expected to offload at least two players this week, it will be easily affordable for the Toffees.

Moyes showed considerable interest in bringing Elm to Goodison Park when he was at first club, Kalmar, as did many clubs around Europe. Elm even visited Finch Farm – Everton’s training complex – to view the facilities and discuss personal terms.

But the Swede opted for Alkmaar under the stewardship of Jan Verbeek and has continued his development by claiming a regular starting place and scoring six goals this year. Although he signed a four-year contract back in 2009, Elm’s head may be turned as Alkmaar have dipped in terms of quality. A fourth placed finish this year – 10 places off third, and 14 off the top – and a failure to qualify out of Europa League group that contained Dynamo Kiev, BATE Borisov, and FC Sheriff will surely not suffice the appetites of the best young players around.

Having previously had offers from Everton, Fulham and Blackburn, Elm will have considered the English top flight on many occasions. The huge contrast in quality and competitiveness between the Premiership and the Eredivisie would surely be enough of an argument to convince him.

With Moyes braced for the exit of Jack Rodwell and having not yet replaced Steven Pienaar, it is essential for Everton’s midfield that some creativity is injected. And if anyone has seen Elm’s goal collection on Youtube, you’ll know that he is exactly the man for the job.

His direct, bustling approach and willingness to shoot from any distance on the park would add something to the Toffees’ midfield that has been lacking for a while: drive. On many occasions this season, Everton fans have accused the team of playing sideways – retaining the ball and switching the play but ultimately getting nowhere.

Mikel Arteta was the player who replaced Thomas Gravesen in this role for the Blues and until recently had done so to great effect. After a poor season by his high standards, Arteta will be desperate to put things right and he too would benefit from playing alongside Elm who would share the burden of creativity in the midfield.

Elm is one of the best kept secrets in Europe and so it is in David Moyes’ interest to get this player signed up as quickly as possible.

Had no idea who he was but i did some reseach and found that video and boy can the lad score a goal! elite finisher, Transfer taven linked us with him in 09 but he signed with AZ wiki says he can play CM, AM or DM Football manager says he is best at CM but can play RM to (Playing for United to they paid 16.25Mill for him too). If so i dont think we need another CM with Fellaini, Arteta, Rodwell and Barkley with Neville and Heitinga who can play there, but nonetheless we could to worse.
