EVERTON are closing in on a deal for Sweden international midfielder Rasmus Elm after flatly rejecting Manchester City’s £15 million offer for centre-back Joleon Lescott.

Manager David Moyes underlined his determination to add to his squad rather than deplete his resources by holding firm on Lescott as talks began with Swedish side Kalmar for Elm.

Everton are adamant that no stars will leave, and chief executive Robert Elstone said: “We do not intend selling any players.

Moyes has also not given up hope of signing Sheffield United’s Kyle Naughton, despite strong interest from Spurs.

He's not only a U21-player, he's been a regular for the full national team for the past months and started both of swedens last two WC-qualifiers. I think that he would be a great addition even though he prob would need a little time to settle in and get used to the tempo in the PL (the swedish league is crap).

Would be great to have a swede in our club as well so we could get som press over here, swedish papers only write about the Sky 4 and swedish players.

Like everywhere else. Well they don't write about Swedish players here in Spain but they only write about the sky ... Ah, you know what I mean.
