Player Valuation: £70m
I know certain elements of the Everton support want to see us buy £20m players like Robbie Keane and SWP. But lets be fair, these players have never really hit the heights and are probably going to be a disruptive element in the club.

We sign players who are:

1. Not weighed down by hefty price tags (apart from Yak, who bangs them in for fun, snoogins)

2. Don't command stupid wages to elevate the rest of the squad to stupid wages. I mean, how much does a player need to live his life? If he's that good he'll get on the cover of EA Fifa 09 and earn some cash that way.

3. Hard working, and are only great as part of a team, and not as a single entity.

So all those who are undoubtedly going to moan about signing Free's and loan to buy players, well just think of the guys we have already brought in on similar situations and ask yourself if you could do without them?

Arteta, Pienaar, and Yobo for example?

Let Liverpool blow £20m on an ageing player who has never really been worthy of that kind of fee. We'll go and buy a player for less than half the price and twice as effective, for us.

I agree Ghost but it would have been nice to have had one player that i'd actually heard of before to come in during this wretched, damn and blasted, effing transfer window.
I'm sure these guys will do okay and i'll be singing their names on Saturday - I'll have to write them on the back of my hand though -:P

Well I'm sure these names have been heard of on Championship Manager/Football Manager. Because the likes that we have signed recently have not been big name players, but got us to 5th. By adding to that, we are improving the side, stands to reason.

Plus we do still have money to spend, regardless of what the Samaritan season ticket holders will have you believe.

I'm sure other people have heard of them on football manager and the like but I hadnt so I'm looking forwrd to being pleasantly surprised.
Riera, SWP et al can go and swivel.(n)

wether it be .... not good enough for the prem , too young , too old , man utd reject , careers gone off the rails , knackered knees or simply playing for a contract , all the best players at everton always come with something to proove.

(thats why i thought swp would have been magic here.)

paying top money for someone at the top of there game , can only go one way.

bargains and loans - less at stake + bigger dividends .

I still have a feeling deep down, that Everton will go back to Sporting and match their asking price for Moutinho. First we wanted Mbia, but now we're very close to a loan deal for Castillo. So, I still haven't completely shut out the possiblity of him becoming an Everton player before the window shuts. Hopefully we can also add Zigic an Wright-Philips on loan and maybe buy de Guzman. Wishfull thinking most probably, but here's hope.

SWP is too old now, I know he's only 27, but considering he was seen as a top lad when he was 20, he's not exactly cut it for me.

i was thinkning the same, seems a strage thing to say at only 27, but he's been around for ages and hasn't really made his mark, not through a lack of talent mind you, but i just have a feeling that it wouldn't be the right move for us, would much rather go for milner.

Well I would agree with that one.
